Nice light brown creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry, rubber, pine needles, dark malts, hops, licorice, grass, coffee, caramel, minerals.Taste is slightly dry mineraly, pine needles, minerals, sour coffee, dark malts, grass, licorice, hops, alcohol, hops. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and harsh mouthfeel. Fair enough, but it's more like a imperial black IPA than a imperial stout...

Loads of chocolate, honey, nougat and raisin aromas give it an enticing if overly sweet aroma. The taste includes a fair whack of hops but that sweetness is perhaps just a little too much. Would go nicely with a chocolate pudding.

Craft Clerkenwell. Bottleshare. Thanks to Dan. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is a little soft but smooth. Reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, tangy coffee and dark fruits. Mild licorice on the backend. Smooth finish. Aniseed lingers on. Not getting any barrel action but it tasty enough.

Bottle at Craft Clerkenwell, thanks to Dirty Danny. It pours opaque dark brown with minimal head. The nose is sweet, oily, dark chocolate, charred toffee, coffee cake and dark fruits. The taste is bitter, spicy, earthy, wood, cinder toffee, fruit cake, dark fruits, touch of jam, slight vinous notes and toast with some warmth on the finish. Medium + body and fine carbonation. Pretty nice stuff.

Bottle shared at the Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell pre-Christmas tasting - London. Many thanks to Daniel, the last dictator, for this fine beer. Pours deep brown with a khaki froth of a head. The nose has an edge of butterscotch, with other notes of toffee, dark fruits, mild cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with dark dried fruits, scorched earth, wood, cocoa, light alcohol, dark berries, raisins. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sugary on the finish, with moderate alcohol warmth, more ripe fruits, wood, toffee. Perhaps a bit muddled, but tasty nonetheless.

(Bottle) Clear deep brown with tiny tan head. Nice fairly subtle aroma with chocolate, desert wine, port, toffee notes. Thick, oily, sticky palate with the slightest of carbonation - very unusual, very rich and pleasant. The taste is a lovely balance between bitter and sweet. The bitterness is less hops and more bitter chocolate, and the sweetness is complex but with clear toffee notes. There is some complexity too, with notes of sweet wine. Fantastic beer.
