Bottle at home, thanks to my Wingmane for the country rake, 24/06/16. Clear golden with a well appointed off white head - a decent looking bier. Nose is pale malts, grain, corn husk, faint citric elements, light bread. Taste comprises toasted grain, barleycorn, light malt, biscuit notes, touch of caramel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough pale lager, not too sweet or papery, Cm’on bier xnobes - no need to knock this one so!

Scopey’s grand vertical. Thanks to WIngman for this African rarity. Almost clear paleish gold beer, tidy white head. Light crispy palate, mildly dry. Light papery malts. Mild floralness. A whisper of lemony hop saves this from really bombing. Dry finish.

Bottle a little bit out of date.... big thanks to Willis. It pours clear pale yellow with a small, bubbly white head. The aroma is sweet and papery, grass, weed and straw. The taste is sweet, paper, white sugar, straw, cheap white bread and soda water with short finish. Light body and fine, foamy carbonation. Basic papery lager. Not great....

Bottle shared at Scopey’s birthday tasting. Pours golden with a white head that dissipates. Paper, weed and malt aroma. Tastes malty with a really sweet finish. Not awful.

Bottle shared in London - huge thanks to WW. Pours clear yellow with a frothy, white head. The nose holds dry grains, veggies, paper, cereal. Light sweet flavor with simple white bread, crispy cereal, hay. Light bodied with average carbonation. Fairly clean on the finish, with more pale bread, white bread, light bitter hay, faint lemon peel. Really, not that bad.

As Star Premium Quality Finest Lager Beer. ’Local’ beer at an African restaurant, from an expensive 50 cl bottle; the owner claimed it to be Nigerian, but the label unambiguously read Guinness Ghana. Medium sized, fairly lacing, light yellowish white head, bright golden blonde colour with somewhat ochre hue and good fizz. Very neutral aroma of green malts, corn, mineral water and the unmistakable skunky odour of a lightstruck effect. Grainy and corny taste but very restrained, watery and neutral, bit ’sweaty’, somewhat minerally, lightly sourish and grain sweet with a very bland and boring, bit watery body, also as a result of the total absence of hop bitterness. Not truly off-putting but terribly simple and good for a country tick, I suppose.

625ml bottle [Thank you very much, Aziz, for taking this extra tour from Burkina!]. Clear, golden colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grainy and strawy aroma. Taste is grainy, strawy, hints of corn, flat bitterness. As expected.
