330ml can from Trickling Tap. Pours like a cola, dark reddish brown. Caramel aroma, flavour is similar with some fruit too

Leighton’s flat clearance. Thanks to Colin for the can. Almost clear brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest carbonation. Watery tangy malts, some sweetness. A little tangy fruits. Light finish. Watery blandness.

Can shared in London - cheers! Pours clear red-brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds toasted grains, bread, dried berries. Light sweet flavour with mellow creamy toffee, dried berries, toasted bread. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with more toasty malts, light toffee, earth, berries. Fun beer.

Can split at Bespin, thanks to Leighton, 19/09/16. Rich mahogany brown with a big old light beige cap. Nose is plastic strokes, chocolate, vanilla, light roast but unforunately plastic dominates. Tate comprises dark fruit esters, light cardboard, cocoa powder, papery. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying close. Mediocre stuff.

Bierbüchse (333ml): Deep ruby-amber coloured, stable off-white foamy layer; mild to moderate dryish roasty and nutty nose, delicate fruity and chocolatey traces in the background; moderate bitter-sweet flavour with a very light acidity, relatively light bodied; gets drier and more bitter in the toasty-chocolatey finish. Well drinkable...

33oml can into a Gordon’s badged thistle shaped glass at home on 16th April 2016. Looked good, but every dark beer does in this glass. Tanned, smooth topping to the black/deep ruby body, head fell away swiftly though, shame. Slightly over chilling the can meant the aroma took a while to come through: when it did I found some malty coffee notes and traces of hedgerow fruits. The taste had those same coffee notes and berry fruitiness with a vanilla hint within the flavour. medium bodied, this is not a rich, smooth Stout by any means, but I liked it because it had flavour and character.

33cl can from Appleyards. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - light creamy coffee. Sweet malt note at the back. Taste - sweet malt again with light hazelnut note. A blackcurrant nuance at the back. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - a decent ale.
