Tower 42 bottleshare on me biffday! Thanks to Paul. Clear brown beer, thin tan head. Palate is smooth and has modest fine carbonation. Nice dark malts, mildly sweet and creamy. There is a mild fruity tang but it’s not bashing you round the head with it as so many porters and stouts do. Light citric hop. Smooth finish. Nicely rounded porter.

Bottle split at Level 42, thanks to Bropey, 07/09/16. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent tan cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is chocolate, spice, toffee, dark malts, charr, biscuit. Taste comprises tangy dark esters, toffee, dates, spice, chocolate, tangy dark fruit rinds, slight lactic pinch. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a light peppery trace. Decent enough porter.

Bottle thanks to Ash. It pours dark ruby - brown with a medium tan head. The aroma is chocolate, rich roasted, big coffee vibe, cacao nib and millionaires shortbread. The taste is rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, chocolate, coffee grounds, mocha, earthy roast, ashy, liquorice and umami with a dry, roasted finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A pretty solid porter all-round.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Scopey. Pours deep brown with a frothy, tan head. Nice roast in the nose, light peat, cocoa, dried dark fruits. Medium sweet flavour with notes of burnt marshmallows, charred wood, milk chocolate, moderate burnt earth. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced in th finish, with more sweet chocolate notes, restrained roasted malts, fine earthy bitterness, some ripe berries, hints of toffee. Tasty beer.
