Bonfires, Apples, and Toffees
We wanted to harness the evocative sense of the Somerset Autumn in a beer. With the last apple pressing days, dry leaves underfoot and the whiff of bonfires at every corner this beer sums it up, from sweet smoke, warming malt sweetness and hints of apple.
This is a beer to drink post barbecue, scarfs on, stomping against the chill and watching fireworks on a starry night sky.

C: chestnut brown
N: peat, campfire ash, medicinal notes, iodine, light TCP, light bbq
P: light to med bodied, mineral notes, campfire smoke, faint ash. Feels a little too gentle on the palate and lacks oomph. Aging doesn't help.

330ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, dark redd-ish colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Smoky, malty aroma, notes of ham, bacon, smoked eel, a touch of black pepper, fennel, salami. Taste is smoky malty, and minimally fruity hoppy, notes of ham, hints of bacon, salami, smoked eel, a touch of black pepper, fennel, widely disguised, slightly unspecific fruity hints of plum and cherry. Oily texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, prickly carbonation. Very well balanced - a must for Rauchbier lovers.

Tasting with Višnja 666, September 2017. Bottle. Dark amber to light chestnut colour, small to a medium off-white head. Very odd aromas - smoky, also apple, light vanilla, dried fruits, caramel. Sweet. Medium body, moderate carbonation, alcohol hidden, drinkable, light to moderate finish. Very interesting use of smoke and spice.

I totally forgot I had this beer... Wild Beer Smoke n' Barrels Autumn 6% Smoked applewood and freshly pressed apple juice went into this so I paired it with some apple pie. This ruby brown brew smells like smoked ham smothered in apple sauce and baked - yum. Medium bodied and fairly dry/crisp. The taste delivers sweet bacon/ham smoke, apples and a bit of toffee sweetness. This was age eat excuse to eat some apple pie, it accentuates the smoke and roast quality of the beer but leaves a tangy Apple bite. Awesome beer for pairing, on its own it's just solid. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a 330ml bottle on 3/10/2017. Pours a hazy amber with a small head. The nose is dominated by smoked malt. The flavour features smoked meat, with quite a bit of sweet apple, but I don't really get the toffee. The smoke and the apple complement each other quite nicely. Medium bodied with modest carbonation. Flavoursome yet quite subtle at the same time. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Amber colour, minimal head. Aroma is initially heavy smoked. After a while smoked aroma becomes more subtle, but still dominant, plus toffee and dry cider. Slightly sour. Good.

Bottleshare at Leighton’s gaff. Thanks to Fergus. Hazy amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is light, dry and fairly crisp. Thin malts bring a mild sweet cream. Light and tangy fruit, some orange peel. Tangy fruity finish. Smoke conspicuous by it’s near absence! Tidy.
