Hopocalypse is dawning; a bitter black beast has been set loose into a world of juiciness to become Black Sunshine. Using Nelson Sauvin, Citra and Mosaic hops we've created a lemony, heavy gooseberry hitter with a bitter cacao follow up.

330ml can. Pours very dark brown with a thick beige head, good retention. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruits, roast malts, chocolate. Taste is a nice balance of hoppy fruity flavours and dark roast malts, citrus, lemon, chocolate, a hint of coffee, it's bittersweet. Medium body, soft carbonation. Very nice.

Can from Victorian Market, Stockport [150417]
Very dark brown, soft haze, bubbly beige head
Aroma of dark malts, citrus zest, lemon zest, mellow roast underneath, proper BIPA aroma
Taste of rich dark malts, bitter citrus zest, some lemon zest, dark bitter chocolate, roasted malts, complex, dab of coffee grounds, lots of flavour
Palate - Soift carb, medium to full body, good bitter sweet balance. Finish of dark chocolate, bitter citrus zest, more roast as it warms up, clean palate
Overall - Superb BIPA, best I’ve had in a long time, rich dark malts and lots of citrus zest as it should be

0,33l can at home bought from Beergonzo. Only 23/11 readable from the BB date (I assume 2017). black color, medium big tan head. smells licorice, earthy, light sweetness, grassy, parfumy, bit acidic. nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, some ash, cocoa, grassy, herbal, bit acidic, light cucumber. finishes medium bitter with notes of ash, grass and cucumbery notes. nice one but rather on the ashy side, not totally convincing but still quite drinkable.

Keg @ 57 Thomas Street, Manchester. Very dark red with a creamy head. Its strength dominates, but it’s also very hoppy with a dark malt influence.

Can at Tapped, Leeds. Pours dark brown with a maroon tint and a good sized beige head. Wonderful aroma of chocolate, hop, very light coffee, and light fruit. Moderate to light sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness. Body is quite full, slickish texture, soft carbonation. Finish picks up more sweetness, keeping a level of bitter chocolate/coffee. Enjoyed this immensely.

Can from Beer Gonzo, Earlsdon, Coventry consumed at home Sunday 29th January 2017 whilst cooking Beef and Mushroom Carbonnade. Pours dark brown with a small light beige head, some pine and chocolate combine in the mouth, like others I am also getting some burnt toast. Nice mouthfeel, a little soapy at the edges. Good beer.
