Hopocalypse is dawning; a bitter black beast has been set loose into a world of juiciness to become Black Sunshine. Using Nelson Sauvin, Citra and Mosaic hops we've created a lemony, heavy gooseberry hitter with a bitter cacao follow up.

Can from Beer Gonzo. Hazy ruby/brown body with a thick beige head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of pink peppercorns, Twiglets and caramel. Flavour of black pepper, wood, burnt toast with a sour finish. Medium body with a soft fizz. It’s very peppery and has a sour edge.

Level 42 Bottleshare and no Mark King in sight. Thanks to Dan the man for the can. Almost clear amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has decent fine minerally carbonation. Mellow dark malts, modest dark character, light roasty bitterness. Smooth cooling piney hop that develops spice. Modest citrus fruits, well buried. Light finish leaves a bitter linger. Tidy.

Can at home, 16/12/16. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent light khaki head. Nose is jammy berry fruits, chocolate, light pine, raspberry, light charr, hop dusting. Taste comprises Ribena berry, sweet malts. pine, sticky tropical fruits, liquorice, treacle toffee, light dank tingle. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a sticky hop rinse. Solid CDA ... just a little too sweet in places, ramp up the bitterness and you’d have a true great for the style!

Can thanks to Danny. It pours darkest red - brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is toasted cocoa, coffee grounds, rocky road, cherry, cherry bakewell and chocolate. The taste is smooth, rich roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, liquorice, cocoa, spicy, earthy, warming alcohol, spice, grassy, light alcohol and ash with a dry, charred finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Decent.
