Saturnalia was first brewed for Christmas 2011 and proved so popular it has been hard to replace. Crisply hoppy, with powerful tropical fruit flavours and satisfyingly bitter finish.

Handpull cask at the Haymakers, Cambridge. Mid- to dark gold, with a big white head that quickly dissipates. Country garden and orange peel aroma. Sweet taste which has a slight citrus astringency in the medium to long finish. Thick oily body. You can taste the premium strength, and it gives the beer a bit of bravado. So... not Milton’s most interesting recipe but certainly worth a try.

(Cask at Pembury Tavern, Hackney, London, 22 Nov 2012) Golden colour with brief, white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of tropical fruit, citrus and peaches. Malty, fruity taste with citrus, fruit salad, honey and a generous citric bitterness emerging in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and quite nice.

Cask, handpump at The Devonshire, Cambridge Sat 14th April 2012 with Loz Mid gold with a white rim of bubbles. A superb balance of hoppiness and sweet maltiness, this is already proving to be quite a hit with me and Loz who’ve both decided that we need to stay for another one (of these!) Tropical fruits, juicy, fruity, tasty, lovely! A7 A5 T9 P4 Ov16 4.1
