Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours totally clear orange-gold, lightly effervescent, with a thick, frothy off-white head; looks excellent. There’s a bit of English yeast in the nose, some bready malts, light toffee, subtle toasted honey, a whisper of citrus. Medium sweet flavour with rather delicious creamy toffee character, mellow bitter toasted hay, biscuits, faint leaves, some sun-kissed pale malts. Light bodied with rich, massaging carbonation that echoes nicely the creaminess in the flavour. Well balanced on the finsh, with further pronounced bready malt character, nips of butterscotch and toffee, soft bitterness, a dash of vanilla. Well, this is some delicious stuff. Supremely well balanced, and massively drinkable.

Cask at CP&K. It pours hazy deep amber with a medium off-white head. The aroma is rich malty action, bitter - sweet, pine, sweet florals, fruit cake, earth, leather and spice. The taste is bitter, earthy, wood, leather, spice, floral notes, brown bread, light varnish, pepper, grass, candied orange peel and a hint of alcohol with a lingering dry, peppery finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. As with the other version of this there is just so much depth for the style. Rich and interesting. A joy to drink.

Cask at CP&K. It pours hazy amber with a medium off-white head. The aroma is rich, malt - driven, leather, brown bread, fruit cake, candied peel, spice, earth and wood. The taste is rich, bitter, earth, musty brown bread, dirt, spice, old leather sofa, dried fruits, fruit cake, alcohol and dull orange peel with a lingering dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Great depth of flavour to it. Rich and earthy. I really like this stuff. Reminds me of something Luckie Ales would do (that’s a big compliment).
