Let’s face it – we love big, flavorful stouts. As luck would have it, our friend Jeppe at Evil Twin Brewing feels the same way. We decided to brew a beer together that took elements from our favorite stouts we each produce to come together as one beer. Bible Belt takes elements we love from Prairie Bomb! and combines them with Evil Twin Brewing’s world famous stout, Even More Jesus. The end result is a smoky, spicy stout that is sure to please the pallet.

Keg at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014, blue session. 02/05/2014. Dark black / caramel coloured pour with a lasting dark tan head. Aroma is coco nibs, toasted coconut, some earthy notes and coffee beans. Flavour is dark choc, rich praline, roast coffee, veg coffee bean, spicy pepper. Palate is full bodies and robust. Viscous. Pretty balanced.

Draught @ The Rover. Pours pitch black with a small creamy dark mocha head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet, malty and tiny spicy with roasted malts, high quality dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, smoked chilli, charred wood, vanilla fudge, hay, toffee and burnt caramel. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, smoked chilli, hay, charred wood, vanillin, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, soil and hints of green bell peppers. Mouthfeel is soft, velvety, slightly spicy hot, slightly roasted astringent and near full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and malty with roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, burnt caramel, toffee, smoked chilli, charred wood, vanillin, hay and soil. Tasty spicy imperial stout.

[20 July 2015] Sample from a 12 oz. bottle shared by Andy at Ale Alpharetta. Pours black, with a small brown head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, jalapeños, celery, and cinnamon. Very sweet and malty, with a light spiciness, and no perceptible bitterness. Surprisingly light body, given the ABV, with a smooth finish. Overall, this is a very nice stout. Fairly simple, but very well made. The lack of roasted bitterness in the flavor and the light, smooth body make this a great stout in my opinion.
[18 June 2015] Sample from a 12 oz. bottle at Ale Alpharetta, shared by Steve. The nose is milk chocolate, molasses, and a nice note of smoked serrano peppers. Very sweet, with a low, warming heat from the peppers. Fairly heavy body, syrupy, with a little chalkiness. This time, I didn’t get as much vegetal notes, and the body seems much heavier. Still quite a fantastic beer.

Bottle provided by Rightcross55, thanks Matt. Used motor oil color with low carbonation level. Aroma is vanilla and chili pepper on top of dark chocolate.
Heavy dark roasted malts upfront with vanilla and molasses thickness over the tongue. The chili pepper is shows a light spicy heat that also is amplified by the alcohol warming. Damn! Vanilla isn’t really fond in the flavor but it does have a full creamy body that I find desirable in a imperial stout. The 13% make itself known only in the way I feel after I finished the glass. This is a bold bastard right here! Delicious.

Bottle. A- Coffee, cocoa, vanilla, weak. A- Black color, black liquid, minimal brown head. T- Chilies, coffee, mocha, chocolate, vanilla. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish. O- Damn, the color black could be defined by this beer. And the viscosity is thicker than motor oil. The taste is unlike anything I have had before. The initial taste is a slight heat from chilies that quickly dissipates into a coffee and chocolate palate and smooth finish. I think it’s safe to say this beer lives up to the hype. Not my favorite, but still not a single complaint.
