Bottle from Morrisons. Dark brown body with ruby highlights and a thin beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of plum and charred wood. Flavour of raisins, filter coffee and malt loaf. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. This is really nice - I hope to see it around more often. Is it more of a Mild than a Premium Bitter?

Bottle from Morrisons and drunk on a train. Dark brown cola colour lasting tan head. Full in the mouth. Some bitterness on the finish. Some dark fruits. Best Sharps beer I've had in ages. Very dry and bitter on the finish. Not enormously complex but the finish is rather good. I like the dark fruits.

50cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell. A cola brown colour with a ring of translucent head; coffee aroma; slightly medicinal taste, with some chocolate syrup; and a dry coffee ground finish that catches the throat.

Very dark brown, near-opaque with a bubbly head and a lively pour. Dry, malty coffee aroma. Taste is sweeter with a flavour of dried fruit to balance out the malt a bit, with some chocolate and coffee. There's not much heft to it given the sort of flavours it has but it's a very pleasant surprise because I'm not always a big fan of Sharps.

500ml bottle; BB 1st Nov 18. Poured into my lovely Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 18th Mar 18. Large foaming head of lightly tanned bubbles sat on top of a very dark body, looked good. Malts all the way here, the aroma having a good solid chocolate/coffee base from which to work on, the taste also had those two basic flavours within the maltiness. Nothing too heavy, but those malt based aromas and tastes really worked nicely, light hop bitterness towards the end of each sip helped to balance the semi-sweet malts. Smooth without actually getting rich or slick. More than decent, a lot better than I expected to be honest, maybe this Sharp's beer is still actually brewed in Cornwall and not at Coors in Burton? EDIT, rear label says brewed in Burtonwood in partnership with Molson Coors!

500ml bottle. Dark cola brown with a decent, lasting off white head. Aroma and flavour are roasted malts, chocolate, coffee. Texture is more black lager than a bitter, but that's not a bad thing

Bottle at home. This wasn’t described as a porter on the bottle, but in my humble opinion it certainly is. A lovely rich dark roasted malt flavour that resulted in a beer that slipped down effortlessly as I was forced to watch Little Women on Boxing Day. Terrible programme, but excellent beer. Why aren’t they proud of the style???
