Brekeriet Cassis is a sour ale mainly fermented with Brettanomyces yeast. Black currant is added during the secondary fermentation and this yeast loves berries which is shown in the fantastic taste of the beer. Brekeriet Cassis is refermented in the bottle which gives a thin layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

Draft at Thirsty Monk. Hazy deep gold, off-white head. Aroma of sour fruits, oak. Taste is funk, sour fruit, oak, brett. Okay.

Aromas are mostly vinegar with a little bit of fruit. Flavors are like nose with everything coming on more boldly also now the fruit becomes currant and I can discern funky yeast. The carbonation enhances the tartness of the beer making it border on being too sour.

Bottle, 750 ml at MBR, Kiselo Druženje. Courtesy of Domagoj and Goga. Pours hazy red, bit milky, with medium white head. Fruit, currants, berries, lactic, moderate funk. Medium sourness. Soft texture. Medium bodied.

On tap at Wildebeest with Sonnet (Core2 pass celebration). Pours a murky purple with a rose head. Aroma is sour and sweet with black currant notes. Taste is dry, no sweetness, with currant notes, but also moderately vinegary. Low gravity. Not bad, but it needs more balance between aroma and taste along with higher gravity.

Fátyolszerű, nagyon gyorsan elillanó hab piros szín. Savanykás, animális, ribizlis illat. Íze mint az illata, savanyú, vadélesztős, fanyar ribizlis aromával. Könnyű, közepesen szénsavas, csak egész picit kesernyés. Nagyon finom, frissítő, jól egymásba simuló ízekkel. Szuper sör.

Huge thanks to Vran & Goga I guess! Misty red body. Big currant aroma, slightly funky, just vaaaaguelly metallic, though that might be a fruit thing. Nice soft taste, currant, juicy, well integrated funk mixing wonderfully with the fruitiness. Nice!

Taste is slightly dry fruity, berry skin, hay, grass, sour slightly unripe black currants, unripe red currants, oak. Medium bitterness, very dry slightly acidic mouthfeel. Very nice!

Bottle, 0.75l, shared with Gregor. Pours hazy dark ruby color with quickly diminishing off-white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of black currant, citrus, brett and wood. Taste starts with refreshing tart black currant, following is funky and musty with evident note of tannins, while mouthfeel is quite smooth because of lactic acid. Light to medium body, thin texture and lively carbonation in palate. Perfect fruity refreshment...
