12/I/16 - 50cl can from Malt Attacks (Brussel) @ home - BB: 12/IX/16 (2016-30)

Clear purple brown beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: pretty roasted, mocha, chocolate, some banana, dried fruits, hint of band-aid. MF: lively carbon, medium to full body. Taste: pretty roasted, bit sourish, hoppy and bitter, coffee, some citrus, very nice. Aftertaste: very roasted, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, caramel, bitter hops, citrus, fruity, almost like a black ipa.

500 ml. can. BBF 12/09/2016. Deep Bordeaux very dark furniture brown, small tanned head. Nose is thin herbal ashes, herbal thin mocha, chicory coffee, cheap powdery mocha, instant coffee. Taste is thin dry ashy powdery herbal, chicory coffee, thin powdery cheap mocha, instant coffee, leaves, faint stale Tabaco,.. Body is much like taste, thin, herbal, mocha, ashy,… Odd, overkill on the thin & ashy, herbal notes. A bit unusual, I see some strange recurring ingredients here, I haven’t had their IPL yet but I almost wonder whether or not this is a regular porter or a tweaked version of their IPL. It seems almost a bit odd for it to be this ashy, thin herbal & dry. There is no way that I am right here, I am probably overly suspicious of a BE brewery debuting several beers at once, silly me. Either way, a bit odd, a bit too much.

50cl can.

06/11/2015 in Brussels, waiting for a train that doesnt come. 50cl can from Malt Attacks, Brussels. First heavy dry bitterness from roasted malts (reminding of a black coffee in the morning or the dust the stoneworkers to whom this is dedicated had to swallow), than those malts combined with hopsbitterness, than more hopsbitterness, than a little fruitiness which makes it remind of a black IPA. Finally light sweetness to end as a simple ale for bingedrinking. Or my tastebuds were top or confused. Or did I had to shake it to distribute the taste more evenals? It was definetly a fine tasting journey and finally thats why were in it I guess. Nice artwork by the way
