Bottle from Legacy Liquor, Vancouver, bought in 2014
Tagged "BR7 2013 rom", 11.9% ABV
Black color, brownish head. Very nice aroma, tobacco-ish chocolate (8.5). Perfectly balanced body, sweet chocolate, velvety, rich, with a hint of tobacco, leather, roasted nuts, and maybe spirit.
Possibly the extra 3 years aging in the bottle has done some good to this beer.
Delicious.

Dark brown, aroma is light aroma, with a nondescript barrelly character. Sweet, just a touch rummy, light toasty note, has a good demerara complexity.

Bottle - Dark silky chocolate some syrupy cocoa. Jet black with a small light brown head. Lots of syrupy chocolate, coffee, date and prune sweetness. Rum came out as a nice sweetness and not a harshness.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle (important to note since there are 3L bottles of this beer). Aroma is rich with lots of dark chocolate and some lighter milk chocolate. Medium light roast notes. Light oak notes with some dark fruit including plum, prune raisin and berry. Medium light rum notes; it has definitely calmed down since when it was fresh. Pours black with a medium small, thick, light mocha head that shows good retention as it recedes to a thin film that lingers throughout. Flavor is fairly sweet and slightly oxidated. Lots of dark chocolate and milk chocolate with some lighter roast notes. Light honey and caramel. Moderately strong oak notes. Some dark fruit with plum, prune and berry. Medium bitterness. Some light alcohol notes with a medium light rum note. Lingering chocolate, raisin and rum. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice beer but definitely not my favorite of the Eclipse series. When it first came out I loved it but it has aged into averageness. It actually tastes too sweet and muddled for me which Eclipse rarely does.
