Keg at the Euston Tap, 10/06/14. Light black with a well appointed tan covering that retains well, good full glass lacing ensues. Nose is floral, light peach, very subtle roast, red grapefruit, perfume. Taste comprises mandarin, grapefruit, more parfume, pine, light roast. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light hop bitterness in the close. Ok CDA, a little overly floral and peachy for my liking though.

Keg at the Euston Tap. It pours near black with a medium pale beige head. The nose is rich, roasty, earth, light grass, cocoa, lots of berry and jammy fruits. The taste is bitter, rich roast, toast, salted caramel, liquorice, earth, pepper, ash and citrus peel with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Pretty well joined up. Rather nice cda action.

Keg at Euston tap. Aroma is really nice big pine, lemon and hint of dark choc. Candied hops and light metal in the nose as well. Hazed opaque dark caramel coloured pour with a lasting greyish thin head. Flavour is composed of pine hops with citrus and berry fruit. Malt profile is crisp, biscuit and hint of dark choc. Nice clean ferment. Flavour doesn’t pop like the aroma, some dull veg character. Palate is crisp medium light body and highish carbonation. Light chalk on the tongue.

(Draught at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, almost black, with creamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with caramel, crisp-bread, coffee, pine needles and toffee. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, pine needles, grapefruit, dark fruit, ashes and a generous piney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Very nice and tasty black IPA.

Draught at Monk’s Porterhouse, Stockholm. Dark ruby/black, mid sized beige head.. Aroma of citrus and licorice. Mid sweet with well sized body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Potently hopped and heavily roasty. Grapefruit and asphalt join together for a resiny hugely bitter finish. A beer with a few very powerful flavour components and limited drinkability.

Euston Tap. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Soft smooth palate with a little fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, no roast or bitterness. Some cream. Fair dose of bramble fruits, blackberry, raspberry and strawberry most readily identifiable. A little citrus and lime. Finishes smooth and semi dry with minerals and licorice. Good stuff.

Keg at the Euston Tap, London. Pours black-brown with a fine, beige cream head. Nose is quite fruity, some grape, lime, grapefruit, orange, general berries. Medium sweet flavor, some bitter cocoa, modest roast, mild tangy dark malts, more grapes, dark berries. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Medium sweet finish, some bittersweet chocolate, grapes, grapefruit, lightly tangy berries. An interesting beer.
