Specially brewed using an infusion of Chinese bruised ginger root and botanical extracts, Old Tom Ginger is a lively breed indeed. It has a delicious purring warmth for those colder winter nights…and a refreshing summer coolness when served over ice.

Sample from bottle @ Smithfields Hotel Manchester. Dark brown color. Strong ginger aroma with vinous notes. Sugary sweet flavor with cherry sweets and ginger. Sticky mouthfeel.

330ml bottle. Poured a hazy dark brown colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is ginger and not much else. The flavour is pure ginger too. There is no room for anything else. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Reminds me of the ginger beers I drank as a kid, with a drier, spicier finish and a touch of alcohol burn.

6% alk. Zanimljiva piva, ima dosta jako izraženu aromu gingera, iliti đumbira. Okusom ipak nema toliko te karakteristične gorčine jer je zamaskirano slatkoćom pive.

Bottle, 330 ml, courtesy of and shared with Max. Pours brown with medium yellowish head. Malty, spicy, ginger, caramel, sweet. Medium bodied. I'm not a big fan of ginger, but this is decent.

F: big, tan, good retention. C: dark brown, clear. A: malty, a lot of ginger spicy, orange peels. T: malty, herbal, ginger, caramel sweet, not bad but may be too sweet, medium to full body, medium carbonation, long lasting ginger aftertaste, enjoyed, 33cl bottle as from Auchan Market in Luxembourg.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the massive Tesco near Hackney Central, I think. This beer has a BBE of April 2013, so it definitely is getting long of tooth; tonight is the night, then. Pours clear amber with a creamy, khaki head - you can’t fault the appearance. Lots of spicy ginger in the aroma, along with some gloopy, ripe berries and hints of toffee. Medium to heavy sweet flavour, thick and chewy, with lots of ripe berries, creamy toffee, dense slices of holiday fruitcake. Medium to full bodied, viscous, with velvety texture and creamy carbonation. Sticky on the finish, certainly sweet, with lots more ripe berries, fruitcake, moderate ginger spice, some orange peel. Well, it is certainly an interesting beer. The sweetness prevents it from being very drinkable, but it is definitely a novelty.
