Bébé d'Amour is een vlot drinkbare session IPA. Licht in alcohol maar toch vol van smaak.

28 August 2021. At Bier van Ollier Festival, Sijsele. Cheers to Anke, mom, dad & Dirk!

Clear yellow, stable, foamy, white head. Aroma of grapefruit juice, mandarin, unripe peach, tangelo, lime. Taste has sweetish peach & tangelo, sourish zesty lime, bit grassy. Floral hoppy finish, bitter grapefruity & yeasty finish, remaining somewhat zesty. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Nicely bitter Session.

Bottle at home. Pale yellow color, white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, light to decently hoppy, citrusy, somewhat bitter. Nothing special. Thinnish, as expected with fizzy carbonation. Drinkable.

Bottle from LDW. Hazy amber colour, white foam. Nose of citrus, tropical fruit. Taste is rather dry, grassy and bitter. Easy drinkable and refreshing. A good one.

The 'session' version in BramBrass's Bébé d'Amour series, though 4.9% ABV seems 'sessionable' in the traditional sense more to a Belgian palate than an Anglo-Saxon one. Brewed at De Meester near Kortrijk. Thick and frothy, snow white, irregularly lacing, largely closed and stable head fed by fierce sparkling running through a lightly hazy, warm 'old gold' coloured beer with tiny flakes of yeast floating around everywhere. Aroma of yellow grapefruit peel, green banana, white bread slices, fresh camomile, wormwood leaves, freshly cut Granny Smith apple, heating olive oil, flour, soap, white chewing gum. Crisp, lively onset, very fizzy carbonation with sharp minerally effects, fruity aspects of unripe apricot and green banana in a very clean and restrained way, hardly sweet with a dim sourish edge accentuated by the carbonation. Slick, cereally and white-bready middle, tad soapy, quickly soaked in a long-stretched, 'green', bitter, spicy hoppiness, drying and quenching, adding grapefruity and green peppercorn-like aspects and eventually remaining stuck on the root of the tongue in a quinine-like, rooty way. Very clean for a 'Belgian' IPA so in that sense, only 'Belgian' in the purely local sense of the word but not really style-wise; perhaps lacking a bit in New World hop aromatics, a tad too strong for a true ISA and a tad too soapy, but feeling full, confidently hop bitter and refreshing, reminiscent of e.g. L'Arogante Session and the like. Decent enough.

18/XII/19 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ work, lunch tasting, BB: 14/X/22 - (2019-2152)

Little cloudy yellow to orange beer, big creamy white head, little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, little fruity, bit oxidized, some marzipan. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lovely fruity start, some bitter notes, nice bitterness. Aftertaste: more tropical fruits, some citrus, hoppy, some grapefruit, grassy, very nice one.

37,5cl bottle (bottled 12/10/2018) from Spar Oostende. Slow yet manageable gusher! F: huge, egg-white, long lasting. C: orange deep gold, hazy with yeasty debris. A: sweet malty, mellow fruity, bit caramel, floral, yeasty. T: medium malty base, orange, bit tangerine, caramel, toast, decent long lasting bitterness, bit mineral, aroma is not so promising but taste is quite ok, high carbonation, not bad, enjoyed.
