Mini gathering at Chez Sophie on Sunday 26th July 2020. Thanks Mat for the cork and caged 0.75 litre bottle of this. Hazy gold body, thin wispy white head. Farmyard aroma and taste, floral undertones, hoppy finish, almost interesting.

Bottle shared at RB mini-gathering, Shrewsbury (thanks Matt) A good nose on this one of hops and oranges. Pours a hazy yellow brown with not much head. Bitter and grainy in the mouth, but with honey and yeasty notes. Floral and hoppy in the finish. An interesting vsriation on a saison.

75cl bottle at the Chez Sophie RateBeer gathering, July 2020. Brought by me. Actually had a small bottle of this 4th Nov 2019, but forgot to enter the rating. My notes: Did not expect this from Castelain. Good fresh sorachi presence working well with the saison yeast. Very good. This time it perhaps didn't come across as fresh, but it's a pleasant yeasty sipper after a number of lagery blondes and bitters.

Bouteille (…merci, Monsieur le professeur!): Golden, hazy, stable creamy white head, moderate sweet-bitter fruity (“orangey”) and pale-malty nose with a certain “woody” and herbal background; moderate and a bit drier bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied and creamy; lingering bitter-fruity finish with an increasing tannic tartness in the aftertaste.

bottle from E.Leclerc Reims-Champfleury. I don't usually commetn on bottle design, but this one is outstanding! Hazy straw-coloured yellow with a tall and creamy white head. Hoppy nose with a sourish touch. Shy and light malty base with sour flavours, a yeasty fruity touch and resiny-fruity hops towards the lingering finish. Smooth and velvety on the palate. Very well balanced, a delight!

33cl really nice bottle from Carrefour hypermarket in Rethel, France. F: huge, egg-white, good retention. C: orange amber, bit hazy. A: malty, mellow fruity, bit yeasty, floral, herbal, bit coconut, bit spicy. T: medium malty base, bit citrus, mellow fruity, yeasty, bit spicy, decent long lasting bitterness, coconut touch, dry herbal, interesting hop for Saison, medium carbonation, for me not bad, enjoyed.
