Bottle. Short tan head, most diminishing. Dark brown body, clear with ruby highlights. The light aroma presents notes of roasted and burnt malts, dark chocolate, coffee. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Light to moderate acidity. Finishing taste of ash and smoke. Medium body, watery texture and fizzy carbonation. Like a sweeter Guinness Extra Stout with more body.

11.2oz bottle. Deep brown-black, beige head. Creamy and lush, with some of the dark fruit pungency I recognize from the Foreign Extra Stout. Rich, though not such a cloying mouthfeel. Easy drinking for the Stout enthusiast, not such a radical change from most Guinness products. Sessionable, middle of the road Guinness. Right on.

ummm, ok, so this is the best you can do after 250 years, and one of the most popular beers in the world. dissapointed, but ill have another just to be sure.

Pours a brownish head and a dark brown body. Aroma is chocolate. Taste is slightly bitter with some coffee. Creamy taste and mouthfeel, but it is true that it is kind of thinner than one would like.

12 oz bottle from Bevmo, Salinas. Nose of toffee, coffee, and some chocolate hints. Clear very dark brown, with the light penetrating about 1 1/4" in this Orval glass, and a medium, short lasting beige head, without the nitro. Flavor is toffee and coffee, more like a porter or Guinness Light than the Foreign Extra Stout, but pretty good!

Location: Had this on tap at RiRa in Bethesda the Saturday before Memorial Day, and I'm also drinking it now from a 12 oz bottle I got at Gilly's, 6/4/09
Aroma: Roasty malts, coffee, chocolate, caramel, nose is similar to the Foreign Extra
Appearance: Dark brown color, nice thick few finger brown head, some decent lacing
Flavor: Roasty, sweet malty flavor
Palate: Light enough for the style, medium bodied
Overall Impression: It's pretty decent, similar to their other beers. It's better then the normal Guinness, but not quite up to the level of the Foreign Extra in my opinion.

Almost white. Light brown body. Cookiesh, almost biscuity note and some light black malts on the nose. More directly roasty, bitter and nutty than regular Guinness and with rich cocoa. Nice - closer to the beer I knew when I first had Guinness.

draft at JK O’Donnells - Pours very dark brown with a lingering tan head though not much lacing. It has a chocolate roast malt aroma. It tastes of roast malt, chocolate, and coffee. As others have said, it is a lighter bodied brew than the extra stout. I kind of like it, but I still prefer the original.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours black with a decent tan head. Aromas of lighter fruits and darker malts. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is dark toasted malt and mild fruit, with chocolate and coffee. Finishes neither sweet nor bitter. Relatively dry. A big improvement over the 125 calorie stuff.

Bottle. Pour is a predictable dark brown with a little more of a bubbly head than I remember from the original. A bit of translucence lets some highlights shine through around the edges. Aromas are roasty and earthy. Flavor is thin with a little bit of a sour edge to it. From memory, I would say that this is thinner both in flavor and mouthfeel than Guinness... has a little more sourness and a little more scorched coffee than the original as well. Something doesn’t seem to work quite as well for me.
