Our imperial, Baltic-style porter is inspired by the strong, dark brews exported from Great Britain to Eastern Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. Rich and flavorful with upfront notes of chocolate, caramel and toffee.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of pineypower. Dark brown with a warm, reddish hue and a creamy beige head that leaves a pretty lacework. Sweet aroma of roasted malt and prunes? Medium body with sweet, roasted malts, licorice, some dried fruit - prunes in particular - and absolutely no bitterness. Nice. Perhaps more of a Baltic Porter really. 060407 and 070907

Contract brewed at Latrobe PA. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small brown head that faded quickly. The aroma was toasty, bitter and had touches of cocoa, coffee, malted milk and vanilla. The flavor was vanilla, malted milk, and toasty malts with a long bitter and roasty finish. Fairly full bodied and creamy. This beer has really improved since they moved the brewing location as my previous score on this one had been a 2.9. Well done.

Draught at Hop Devil, NYC
Dark color; nice lace. Light aroma of roasted malt, a bit yeasty. A big flavor of dark caramel, enough roasted malt; elegant and complex. Very good.

Bottle. Dark brown, close to black body. Thin rust red head. Aroma is nice and gentle, gives a soft impression of aroma hops, roasted coffee and dry fruit. Flavor is very aromatic, much more than the impression from the aroma. Coffee, roasted malt, dry fruit, hops and chocolate. Nice warming aftertaste.

There is a nice port & wine aroma to this beer. Flavor is simple chocolate and roastedd malt. Rich and heavy, but I am not getting any "baltic porter" from this well made beer. There is a dry, tannic aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden in the aroma and flavor.

Dry, sweet and smokey, this is one tasty porter. The pour is dark brown with a clear body. Very little head. The nose is strong displaying molasses, raosted malts, caramel, celery, rasin, toffee, smoke and port. There are hints of brown sugar and tobacco as well. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Average carbonation in a medium body. The finish is bitter. a little thin and watery in the texture, but overall very enjoyable.

Bottle Pours a clear dark black witha nice full dense sandy colored head. Nice dark sweet pitted fruit, licorice and smoke. Flavors are warm soft and smokey. Some more of that dark prunes/raisons but very subtle. Softly carbed and fuzy. A very easy porter to put down. Slightly chalky trailer nd a bit of that purple grape flavor. Nothing really jumps out on this one. Just laid back and easy like sunday morning. Nice Thanks Secret Santa

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black porter with a small foamy dark head with average retention. Aroma of chocolate is well mix with some roasted malt. Taste is a mixture between sweet malt with slight roasted bitter touch and some smooth chocolate undertones. Creamy texture is really interesting but body is lacking. This is a really good beer that would have been great had there been a more fuller body.

Deep walnut colored body, not very thick, however; malty coffee aroma, and a coffee-chocolate flavor.
