Tap at Bankan. Dark amber coloured, small golden head. Aroma is bit of roast, bit of sweetness. Ginger spiciness. Taste is nice, bit spicy, nice maltiness, slight sweetness, little bit of bitterness, fruity hoppiness. Pretty nice. Pretty solid.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Na’ama’s place. Thanks Na’ama. Brown color with a beige head. Aroma of malt, nuts, caramel, toast, some hops. Sweetish flavor with malt, nuts, toast, bread, caramel, and a bitter hops finish. Medium-bodied. Quite nice.

Old rating. Bottle from Liquors Hasegawa. Poured into a shaker pint. Amber brown color with a small head. Solid lacing throughout. Aromas of toffee, roasted malt and some spice (nutmeg? ginger?). Taste is more of the same with chocolate coming out as it warms. Hoppy bitterness on the palate as well but balanced with the malt fairly well. Long dry finish.

330 ml bottle. Pours nice medium brown, small head, nice lacing. Aroma has some lacto, bit of milky chocolate. Toffee. Taste is actually nicely hoppy, revealing American side of this beer. It does say American Brown Ale on the label. Bitter chocolate. Finish has more roast, lasts quite long. Body feels a bit weak though, although flavours are there. Good and enjoyable brown ale, I like it.

Bottle. Earthy floral toffee malt aroma. Hazy brown with giant, explosive head. Lightly sweet perfume/floral toffee malt and lightly bitter herbal flavor. Different.

On tap at the Ibaraki Bakuon fest 2013. 5% a clear reddish brown with a mild nutty aroma. The taste is bitter, nutty & a bit bready. Pretty good, a satisfying ale. Fairly well balanced.

-----2016-----A dark brown with a thick beige head from which wafts fruity chocolate aroma. The taste is bitter roasty, nutty and fruity. Better than I remember it. Not too shabby.

Hazy chesnut brown beer. Frothy off white head. Light frothy palate with a little carbonated nip. Trace of apple leads to mild toffee malt. Finishes dry and crisp with a little hop bitterness. Needs something more!

Clear brown with a cream colored head. Hoppy aroma for a brown. Citrus, grapefruit, some orange, light caramel malts, but they are there, and chocolate. Thinnish body, but not bad. Flavor has a stronger caramel malt note than the aroma implies. Citrus hops, toasted malt, and some grapefruit. Very bitter finish. I really like this beer but isn’t what I expect from a brown. Still, I drank gallons of this at the Isekadoya Nomihodai. Great stuff.

Cask Version at Qbrick. Glowing orange-brown color. Complex aroma of caramel, toffee, dark fruits, pine, plum. A decent amount of piney, citrus hops in the flavor to perfectly balance the toffee and caramel. Great body and smoothness. Very enjoyable and exceptionally well balanced. The flavor of the malt in this one really comes out best in the Real Ale version.

Bottled. Hazy brownish amber, rich head. Floral yeasty nose. Sweetish and fruity, medicinal with plenty of peachy hops. Soapy orangey and yeasty with lively spritzy mouthfeel Piney bitterish finish with a warming tingle. Isekadoyas style definitions may be somewhat unique, but they make good beers!
