Bottle at the Ryokan in Kinosaki - picked up at a shop in town. Pours clear orange-caramel with a frothy, off-white head. Toasted grains in the nose, brown bread, faint earth, berries. Medium sweet flavour with minimal bitterness, some toffee, further toasty grains. Sweet finish, basic and malty, with more brown bread, low hopping, more toffee. Quite simple, but enjoyable.

Hazy light amber. Medium head. Has a slightly toasty amber malt character. Balanced, toasty amber ale.

6% a clear amber pour with a beige head. A mild malty caramel aroma. The taste is nutty, bitter toffee. A touch rough with a medium body & light carbonation. This beer is supposedly designed to pair with crab. I guess it does, with the crab it is much zestier & very crisp while the carbonation acts like a palate cleanser. On it's own it is so so but with crab it's pretty good. Boost the score up to 3.5-3.6 when paired with seafood. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draught at the Hyogo Beer Oktoberfest in Kobe. Malt-centered, rather sweet version with lots of caramel and lightish hopping. Very fruity, with cherries and other dark fruits. Good malt, but hops are too light. Nice enough, but a punch is really lacking.
