Can from the brewery. Dark brown pour, with reddish hues, and a large off white head. Huge aroma of smoked peat, just a smack in the face of scotch. If Lagavulin was beer. There are some semi sweet toffeeish malts in there but you have to wade through the giant clouds of peat smoke to find them. Low bitterness, subtle sweet smoke, and tobacco. A real smoke bomb, but in a lovely scotch kinda way. Impressive! if you like Islay scotch, you'll love this beer.

Poured from 355mL can (pkg 10 May 2021). Hazy medium brown with orange hue and beige head. Chewy malt, feint hint of bread crust, underlying mild peat character. Maybe this can is a little bit old, but decent.

Can from HogTownHarry. Very deep dark colour but not black. thin head. Malty aroma. some chocolate. yes some smoke some peat but not over the top. Flavour is somewhere around a doppelbock but smoother than that. Peat is left in check but there is some astringent flavour there. but the chocolate softens the peat. pretty smooth in mouth and hides abv well. yep pretty impressive.

Can: Poured a copper color lager with a medium size offwhite foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of smoked malt notes with some light caramelized malt notes. Taste is a mix of caramelized malt notes with some smoked malt and light residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable smoked lager and not even sure the 8% ABV is really required.

Muddy brown color with no head. Doesn't look appealing. Very peaty, smokey with a touch of meatiness. Malty, but enough bittering hops to balance things. abv will hidden. full body. Nice.

Can from the brewery. Dec 19, 2018. Dark orange-brown with a tall, fine head. Medium smoky nose, a bit peaty, some chocolate, caramel, light iodine notes, some chewy fudge. Flavor is rich, chewy fudge with smoke, peat, iodine, salt. There are loight soy notes as well. Sweetness hits the middle palate but it finishes dry and peaty, though I must say the peat is not overwhelming. There are notes of caramel and raisins. Quite complex and though challenging not difficult. Body is a bit on the light side compared to your typical Scotch Ale. Tasty and original. Like a baltic porter with peat, though the roasted notes are mostly replaced by smoky peat. Nice stuff.

A dark reddish copper lager with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with loads of peated smoked malt, light solvent, very nice. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with loads of peated smoked malt, light scotch, alcohol warmth, dark fruits, pleasant. On tap at Lupulus.
