W pierwszym niuchu zajefajna beczka bourbonowa, taka klasyczna, a la bcbs. Potem teoche sie ulatnia. Czeko, palonosc, ciemne owoce, srednio- ciala, dosc chlalne, alko niezle schowane. B smaczne puwi, ale tez troche zawod. Zwlaszcza po tym pierwszym niuchu

Wood-aged extra strong stout by this brewery in Michigan, U.S., from a bottle bought at The Beer Shop in Kontich. Mousy, membrane-lacing, pale greyish beige, medium thick head, blackish robe but not quite, with deep mahogany-bronze brown hue. Aroma of fudge, liquorice, 'drop' even, caramel, muscovado sugar, milk chocolate, 'koetjesreep', almond, tea, cocoa powder, chewing gum, sweetish bourbon indeed but subtle and hardly 'woody'. Sweet onset, pear, blue plum, candied fig, light sourish undertone; lively carb (a bit much so perhaps for a stout this strong). Caramelly, milk-chocolatey and hazelnutty malt core, not very thick and still governed by overall sweetness with very little roastiness, though a cappuccino-like coffee touch certainly appears towards the end; meanwhile that liquorice factor remains very pronounced all the way through, too much so for my personal liking. Gains a bit more depth in the finish as an indeed credibly bourbon-like, warming alcohol effect sets in, carrying on only a very thin woodiness (with no tannic effects at all) and a herbal, bit tea-ish hoppy note providing only limited bitterness. There is again a coffee touch that lingers, but the caramel and liquorice effects remain much more obvious. Rounded, accessible, easygoing stout, sweet and not too complex - perhaps useful as a stepping stone to the more 'serious' work for those still unexperienced in imperial stouts. I must admit that I expected more from this one, decent as it was.

Op tap bij LiB'20. Zwart, beige schuimkraag. Boterzacht, romig, caramel, chocolade, geroosterde smaken, eikenhout, vanille, hint van koffie, alles super geïntegreerd. Volle body. Heerlijk.

Bottle at Delano Skyfall Lounge in Las Vegas, NV. Drank from the bottle. Starts out with some classic stout flavors and then the 11% ABV takes over and drowns out everything. WAY too strong to enjoy. Couldn't finish it.

Leicht erhöhte Karbonisierung. Alkoholisch malziger Beginn, milde Herbe, spritzig. Schokolade, die Karbonisierung stört etwas. Vollmundig, süßlich röstig, langer Nachgeschmack. Gut. 9/10/10/10//10

Lovely. Rich sweetness, light booze but pleasant bourbon. Caramel. Fruity and easy going.
