Think of Roasted Rye as the best of an India Pale Ale and a Winter Warmer wrapped up in the same beer. Citrus and tangerine in the nose are supported by chocolate, caramel, and coffee-like roasted notes from the five different malts we use. A favorite among many members of our team, this was the beer that started it all for us as homebrewers back in 2010.

Can. Hazy reddish amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is soft and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Soft malts but with plenty of rye tang, trace of bitter toffee. Litter bitter orange peel. Light dry finish. Pretty drinkable.

12 oz can. Aroma is pine, grapefruit peel, caramel. Pours hazy amber with a two finger beige head with great retention; splotchy lava lamp lace left on the glass after receding. Taste is medium bitter, lightly candy sweet with flavors of spicy rye, grapefruit, pine and caramel. Good.

Unclear, deep copper colored, small beige head. Aroma is of some toasted malt, rye, light caramel, pine and more grapefruity citrus hops. Taste is medium sweet malt, toast, rye, light caramel and chocolate, moderate pine and citrus grapefruit hoppiness, medium to strong bitterness, dry and lasting finish. Medium bodied, soft+ carbonation, oily. (can, Craft Beer Rising 2017, London)

Dark amber, bubbly head. Very toasty, rye-influenced aroma. Deep rye taste, lots of brutal bittering hops, no compromise here with 80IBUs clubbing you over his head. Still, it’s not a bad drink.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours deep amber with a thick beige head. Aromas of spice, nuts, toffee. Taste is dry, peppery, more nuttiness. Long spicy linger. Bit gnarly.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - deep amber to brown with a lovely fluffy head. Nose - honey with some praline edging in there. Taste - more honey, going into caramel with hazelnut. Finishes in a praline note. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - interesting and good. Would I drink 20 pints ? No probably just 3 or 4.
