Draught at the brewery, 8/4/17.
Dark ebony, seemingly with a moderate clarity, having burnt sienna edges. Small, dark beige head rests tenuously atop.
Chocolate, vanilla and mild, lightly fruity coffee-like roast emerge prominently, as it shifts to a spicier, wood-augmented bourbon character on the finish that is apparent but by no means overdone. No pineapple/coconut/heavy toast here, thank God (not that I'd expect it). Cinnamon and lactose are light and fold in to the mix harmoniously. Not boozy in the least, especially for its size and with no flaw noted.
In the mouth it's got a lot going on. Tons of vanilla liqueur-like spicy-sweet character thanks to a strong malt base, and with spicy bourbon keeping pace (but again, not overdone). Cinnamon and cocoa sit gently on the finish, helping to soften and dry things out and the attenuation here is high. Beer comes off very light for its size, which is much in the vein of the original iterations of it. Dry, soft, spicy, chocolatey goodness with restraint on the bourbon. I'll take that in an Imperial Stout every time.

Draught at the brewpub. Thick, pitch black, with lace, shiny. Huge dessert nose: bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate, cola, huge spice and barrel. Sweet and spicy, smooth, lots of vanilla and cinnamon, cola, root beer, bourbon. Delicious, though a bit too much additives for me.

Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours oily black with a creamy khaki head. Nice aroma, with notes of cinnamon, cocoa, orange peel, mellow roast. Medium to fm heavy sweet flavour with some burnt pepper, sugary chocolate, background nutmeg and cinnamon spice, a little toasted toffee. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming in the finish, a little sticky sweet, with more syrupy chocolate, cinnamon. Fun stuff, with lots going on. Not super drinkable, but really fun in small doses.

0,75l bottle at home from a trade. Bottled 01/2016. 7.2% ABV. As Horchata Style Milk Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Poblano Peppers, Cinnamon, Nutmeg and Vanilla Beans. almost black color, medium coffee-colored head. smells of coffee, some vanilla, earthy, green peppers, bit ashy, light charcoal, bitter chocolate, very nice smell, especially after it breaths a bit. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, some chocolate, vanilla, coffee, nutty, hazelnuts, bit peppery, light cinnamon and nutmeg noticeable, bit soapy, light sherry. finishes quite balance with nice light earthy bitter / coffee roasty notes and notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and cocoa. usually I am not much a fan of vanilla beer, but the balance and complexity on this one are really great, very lovely nuty, cinnamon and nutmeg flavours. Would be even better without all the vanilla stuff.

Bottle. January 2016. Pours black with a pale tan head, medium-small in size. Not much lacing. Big milk chocolate in the aroma. Long on vanilla. Some general bourbon flavor. Light oak. Not much roast to be found. Medium strength lactose note. Much less of the spice than expected. Nutmeg and cinnamon are both pretty subtle. Chili just provides a tiny spice pop. A bit more cinnamon and nutmeg in the taste. The chili is also a bit stronger but gets a bit mixed up in the booze burn, which isn’t too strong. Some lingering chili spice. Again, lots of milk chocolate and vanilla. Quite sweet. Just a bit boring, really. It needs a richer, darker, fudgier base to it. Medium body, a bit slick. It’s a pretty good beer but not quite put together how I’d like.

750 ml bottle shared by Scott at the Farmhouse Magnum V1 tasting. Aroma is light bourbon sitting on top of cinnamon, hot peppers, chocolate and light oak.
The flavor is very enjoyable, starts out with roast, chocolate and creamy lactose sugar then turns into light bourbon barrel that turns into spices that linger after the sip. Weak pepper note. ABV is mostly hidden, mild carbonation level with a full body. Real nice stout.

Bottle thanks to Team Boston. Pours a dark brown with beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong cinnamon, chili, roast, wood, vanilla. Medium mouth, similar flavors to nose, light booze, very good.
