Pours a deep brown color with deep garnet highlights and a full inch and a half of slowly receding beige foam. Smells of citrus, resin with a solid caramel malt backbone that fights hard for a voice. Hints of mint, garlic and tropical fruit round out the nose nicely. Taste is what I’d expected from the aroma although the malt comes through a lot more than I expected. Solid caramel backbone melts into pine resin, citrus and garlic hop bitterness. Finish is rather dry but leaves a fleeting hop bitterness with a hint of alcohol on my palette after every sip. Resinous bubbly and almost creamy mouthfeel, moderate level of bubbles, medium body. Great frikin palette wrecker. Seems like the perfect beer to slowly savor after drinking at the ACBF all day.

Bomber into snifter, shared with Anderson01. Pours a hazy orange with a thick off-white head with spidery lace; awesome retention. Aroma is strong in grapefruit and pine. Taste is mostly bitter with a sweet malt backbone. Medium carbonation, full-bodied. Pure quality. The lable hruts my brian, hwoevre..

im not sure if im understanding the definition of an "american strong ale" compared to an imperial ipa, caused this tasted like a straight forward dipa to me, west coast hop bomb to be sure, citrusy and flowery, no real malt signature at all, you know what to expect from stone at this point, more of a variation on a theme.

Not very appealing brownish color, but a good firm and creamy tan head sat atop it. Very nice spicy and citric hoppy nose, possibly a hint of oak or cocoa that comes through more in the flavor, along with rounded heavy malts. Medium mouthfeel, balanced if big finish.

A reddish copper ale with a thin white head. In aroma, a wonderful hop bomb with pink grapefruits, kiki, lichee, mentol and alcohol. In mouth, a smooth biscuitty malt with c-hops, citrus, menthol and warming alcohol, well balanced. On tap at Mr. Beery’s , Jan 3 2011.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 1/22/11

Aroma: Full of citrus hops (grapefruit and pineapple), resin, as well as some caramel notes
Appearance: It pours a dark reddish-brown color with a small beige head and light lace
Flavor: The taste is rather big, with medium-heavy sweetness and heavy bitterness as well
Palate: The body of this one is fairly sticky, it's medium-full, with a lengthy and fairly dry finish to it
Overall Impression: I guess I'm the only person on earth who hasn't tried this one yet, huh? It's only been out for a few months, but every time it comes up in conversation the person I'm talking to looks at me like I'm telling them I haven't tried something that has been around forever. "Seriously? You haven't tried Lukcy Basartd yet?" Well, now I have, OK? Seriously though, I had been meaning to try it, I was just a little slower then the rest of the world to pick up a bottle. Anyway, I doubt anyone has made it this far into my review, but I did enjoy this beer quite a bit. It was worth trying for sure, and I would definitely drink it again.

Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville this beer poured a very dark red-amber color with a large creamy tan head that lingered forever and produced incredible lacing. The aroma was orange, pine, grapefruit and wood. The flavor was bitter and intense pine and grapefruit - fairly harsh and boozy with light undertones of caramel and wood. The finish was long, dryish, bitter, hoppy and harsh. Medium body. Ok.

Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, piney hops and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of hops, caramel malt, pine and citrus. The finish is grapefruity hops with a lingering bitterness left behind. Another solid effort from Stone.
