Great presentation, from the oily brown colour of the beer, the soft tan head and a magnificent nose featuring cinnamon, lavender and ginger. This is a challenging, rich, layered imperial stout. The taste profile works its way through semi-sweet chocolate, hot chilli, fresh ginger, cinnamon, lavender, paprika and mild coffee. The heat and bite of the spices and chilli builds over time. A massive array of fresh taste elements.

On tap at the brewpub.
Jet black pour, medium brown head.
Aromas of burnt malts, soy, and pine from the hops. There is definitlely some herbs in here, im getting some licorice i’m assuming is anise, and even some slight lemony corriander. Soft carb, heavy mouthfeel, to be expected.
Medium bitter finish, grassy, medicinal, herby finish, with some slight roast.

Crazy ginger and spice and chocolate nose. Very spicy. Huge spice flavor, ginger, licorice, chocolate. Great smooth body. Way too over the top on the spice for my enjoyment, but well done.

Bottle shared by Jean-Yves at Craft Beer Holiday 2015. Big ginger and chocolate aroma that gives it a somewhat mint chocolate character. Full velvety mouthfeel and roasty chocolate with a ginger bite to it which slowly builds up to deliver some spicy heat. Great.

750ml bottle @ ISKTR
Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of ginger, coriander, spices, roasty malts, dark chocolate, some licorice. Taste is smooth, sweetish and roasty with loads of spices, hints of ginger, coriander, pepper and licorice. Finish is spicy, sweetish and slightly syrupy with hints of roasty malts. Okay spicy stout.

Bottle, 8.5%, Imperial Stout. Bought at the brewpub. Pours hazy very dark coffee brown with airy but stable tan head. Clear aroma of malt and chocolate, with notes of fruit and roast. Bitter, roasty flavour with spicy notes (chilli?) and touches of coffee, chocolate and fruit. Rough, estery and spicy aftertaste with sweetish hints. Definitely not bad, the spicy notes being just of the right intensity. Decent stuff.

Pours a real dark brown colour, close to black, but with ruby highlights. Big frothy mocha-coloured head with good retention and creamy lacing. Aromas dark fruits, roasted malts and spices. This is where the ginger and cinnamon stands out. The mouthfeel is smooth. The taste starts off smoothly as well with well-blended roasted malts, dark fruit, cocoa and then it hits you. The spices seem like chipotle, so a nice burn results. After a little while good coffee notes appear in the aftertaste. Quite a nice dark brew with lots going on, but all very well balanced.

Bottle - Ginger, orange and cardamom in chocolate. Deep bet black with a rich brown head. Dark chocolate, candied ginger and light spices. Well spiced but has a reasonable balance with a touch of heat in the finish. Not bad.
