Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (31A: rye, crystal rye / base 25B: standard/infra super) Can 47.3 cl - Batch 2966A (BB: undeclared - canned on 01/28/25). AROMA: medium-low spicy fermentation notes (slight clove, some citrus) with medium malty background (caramel, slight bread crust). APPEARANCE: amber color body with orange highlights and clear. medium dark beige head, creamy, with good retention. lace formation. TASTE: initial medium-low yeast fermentation notes (clove, slight citrus), that evolves into a medium malty profile (spicy/rye, caramel, slight breadcrust, toasty). medium bitterness with a semi-dry and slightly bitter finish. MOUTHFEEL: medium body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a nice saison with alternative rye malt. would benefit from more yeast fermentation character.

Can thanks to Rich. It pours hazy deep amber - brown with a decent yellow - beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, sticky, pine, resinous, oily, spicy, rivita, brown bread and earth. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, woody, pine needles, resinous, sappy, spicy, green, west coast dank, pithy citrus, kick of alcohol, rivita and spicy brown bread with a drying, resinous finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Robust and enjoyable.

Taster at brewery. Medium Amber, soft foamy head. Fruity, funky aroma, hint of yeast. Taste is more yeast, with more of the Rye pronouced. Still some fruity, plum notes.

Hazy light amber. Bubbly head. Has a fruity note, yeasty. Touch of raisin...probably the rye chewiness. Lots of rye, and quite a bit of yeastiness in the one, light esters.

Sample at Monk’s Kettle. Reddish-copper color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of yeast, fruit and rye. Medium body with flavors of fruity citrus, rye malt and mild earthy hops. The finish is mildly spicy rye and yeast. Decent overall.

Tap at Sprengers. Deep orange amber color with a fine head. Spicy rye, funky yeast in the nose. Very rustic, earthy, grainy flavor with nice rye. Gets a bit too heavy though.

Draft. Copper beer with a dark tan head. Malt and light yeast aroma. Spice and malt flavor with light herbal notes. Medium bodied. Spice and malt linger with herbal notes and very light fruitiness.
