Bottle: Poured a dark brown with a red haze, the head is beige and full. The aroma is sweet with fruits, malts and spices. Taste is a dark smokey malt with some chocolateness. Very nice!

Bottle at Kent BF 07. Black, brown edges with thin beige head. Good fruity dark beer, nice everything, some charcoal, coal dust. Good fruits and nice choc. Delicate in mouth. Aroma of ripe plums. Wonderful. Just a little lacking in body as it goes down.

Very dark brown with a huge head. Plums and some roasted malt in the aroma along with a touch of herbs and spices. Fruity and sweet flavour with a dry, roasted finish. Rather thin body.

Very dark brown liquid, creamy brown blanket head. Light roast aroma. Nutty, burnt sugary notes, fruit, light minerals. Roast finish, a bit ash. Light body. Sugary sweet aftertaste.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of herbs, while the flavor is sweet malty with both spicy and herbal notes, leading to a dry spicy end.

Very dark color, short head. Aroma of roasted malt, some coffee and licorice, maybe a bit laurel even. Roasted taste, bit bitter. Almost like a belgian stout.

Test vom 29.1.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,12,11,14,7,12 - 11,80

Bottled. Black/very dark brown colour with a huge beige head. Cherry, yeast, metal in aroma with some weak nuttyness also coming along. Flavour is also yeast, fruits, slight roastyness and nuts. Not too much hoppiness noted.

Bottle Black body, frothy brown head. Very fresh aroma of flowers, malts, ginger, vanilla, mint: interesting. The aroma has the same effect on your nose as a mouth refresher to your tongue: it really freezes it for a moment by it’s freshness. A little bit weak moderately bitter aroma with some funky fruitiness. Very stouty as well. Nicely balanced and innovative. I like it.

Draught Near black beer with reddish hightlights; medium yellow-brown, fine-bubbled head. Stout nose, but even more dark grains, and ground coffeebeans. Moccha, and faint tobacco flavours, lots of dark malts, exactly the good typical dark French beer. Finishes remarkably sweet-sour. Faint yeast slickness, even carbon powder. Another very good French noir. Love the style. Belgian ale???
