Inspired by the Belgian sour ales of West Flanders, Le Serpent Framboise has a distinctive acidity and complexity.
It is brewed once a year in French oak barrels.
Fresh Oregon raspberries are added in July.
A mixed culture of "wild" organisms used for makes each batch truly unique. Le Serpent is hand bottled and available in very limited quantities. ENJOY

2012 bottling, thanks a million to Toby for the chance to try this. Ruby color, no real head. Tart raspberry nose, great raspberry taste. Sour, tart, oaky. I swear I can feel the fresh fruit... Beautiful treatment. Fantastic beer.

Le Serpent Framboise 2012 7% shared by BuckeyeBoy. A brown pour with pinkish raspberry accents. A nice sour raspberry fruity with a good funky barrel caracter. Wow, super tart but ultra fruity raspberry - great.

Bottle shared by BuckeyeBoy. Huge raspberry nose, jammy and acidic. Dark maroon, cloudy, with lace. Great acid balance with fresh raspberry and jam, citrus, bit of funk. Great stuff.

First and foremost, I need to give a big shout out to Toby for sending me this bottle out of the blue!
It is a deeply dark red brew sitting under a small and quickly receding head of foam. It’s hazy, as I somewhat expected.
Tart raspberries, vanilla, more aromas coming from the French oak barrels used.
As good as the smell is, the taste takes it to the next level. Umm. .no, it doesn’t. The big kicker, for every beer, boils down to the actual physical contact and my contact with this Le Serpent variation could possibly not be better than what it is now. .that superb raspberry tartness that doesn’t go overboard.
The delightful notes of vanilla and oak that work in perfect harmony with the fruit. The nose gives me all of that; a promise of things to come. No fail here.
Medium body with the usual light carbonation for the series.
I can’t say enough good things aboot this brew so I’ll just shut up.

GABF 2014. I thought this was one of the best beers at the festival, or of the hundred or so years I tried. Dark red color. Tons of raspberry flavor and aroma. I am not sure if this is two years old but the fruit is bright enough it does not seem aged. Moderately sour yeast. Very good fruit sour.

750ml bottle thanks to Toby. Pours out a hazy amber topped with a small sand head. Nose is wow raspberries sharp sourness and a great mix between sweet and funk. Taste is better than the nose raspberry sour sweetness but not as sweet as the nose. Wow this is great. Maybe the best framboise I have ever had.
