Our flagship beer, and biggest seller, Pot Kettle Black is one of New Zealand’s most widely awarded beers. PKB, as it is affectionately known, is a juxtaposition of beer styles: fresh and hoppy, yet as dark as night and malty rich. The black beer that has converted many a person who’d formerly professed a fear of dark ales… and called a "real foodie beer" by every chef we meet!

Can. Pours cloudy coffee brown with stable beige head. Clear aroma of hops, with notes of hops and touches of yeast and citrus. Bitter and roasty flavour with notes of citrus and touches of yeast and some malty notes. Bitter and acidic aftertaste with roasty notes.mDecent, but a Black IPA, not a Porter :-)

Can, 6.0%. OK piney hop aroma. Very dark brown colour, seems muddy. Good stable light brown head. The flavour is roasted and fruity with some grapefruit and a faint liquorice note in the finish.

Can at the Chiltern Taps, High Wycombe. Brown-black with a beige head and a moderate fizz. Tropical notes and treacle up front; on drinking more this gave way to roasted malt, plain chocolate, pine, earth and espresso, although there's always a hint of tropical-ness dancing in the background. Moderate toasty treacle bitterness to finish. Very enjoyable beer, made me happy!

Bottle from Aeon. Aroma is lightly roasty and with a sharp citrus hoppiness. Bit earthy too. Taste is good, light tropical elements but neither roast or hops dominate. Feels like it might have lost a little, but still pretty nice.

Bottle, brewed @ Brewdog. Almost black. Roast and bacon in the aroma. Malty sweet, roasty flavor with licorice. Fruit sweeties. Medium to full bodied. Quite pleasant.

Bottle from Booths Supermarket, Media City. Very dark brown with a frothy off-white head. Much more a Black IPA in taste than the porter label on its bottle. Hoppy and fruity, there's a low fusion with dark malts. Its strength is evident but not a huge factor on taste or flavour.
