Our flagship beer, and biggest seller, Pot Kettle Black is one of New Zealand’s most widely awarded beers. PKB, as it is affectionately known, is a juxtaposition of beer styles: fresh and hoppy, yet as dark as night and malty rich. The black beer that has converted many a person who’d formerly professed a fear of dark ales… and called a "real foodie beer" by every chef we meet!

Batch 37.

Pours dark brown, aboot an inch of off white foam with a vigorous pour. Does well with the lacing.

Milk chocolate, cocoa, hoppy nose. Deep whiffs reveal more sweet notes than bitter.

The taste is cocoa, less sweetness than what I gathered from the smell with a roasted malt injection and some dark chocolate and hop bitterness. Pleasing the way the flavours seem to evolve after almost every sip.

High end of medium bodied adequate carbonation.

Feels stronger than 6% abv but nonetheless, enjoyable.

Can from the Worldwide Alcohol, Chelmsford closing down sale. Brewed by BrewDog. Pours very dark brown with a good sized bubbly off-white to beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, caramel, tropical and citrus fruit, hop, pine and malt with moderate roasting. Light sweetness, medium plus bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, very soft carbonation. Finish is semi-dry, with light roasting, pine and mellow chocolate. Very drinkable and pretty damn good!

Black color with a fine tan head. Ok lacing. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a smooth carbonation level. Creamy texture. Ok balanced sweetness. Coffee, roast, fruity and some chocolate in the flavor. Nice tasty beer, but not an black ipa.
