Terminal Gravity IPA is a copper to honey colored ale with a rich malt character and a clean bitter hop finish. This full bodied beer uses malts from Scotland, Belgium and the Pacific Northwest to achieve a slightly nutty lightly toasted taste. Yeast esters provide hints of stone fruits like apricot and peach, while hops from Yakima and Eastern Europe provide grapefruit and spicy notes.

Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-amber color with lots of minuscule floating bits and huge orange-white foamy head that lingered and produced good lacing. the aroma was faint vague fruity, floral and perfumey hops with a touch of underlying sweetness. The flavor was tart, tangy, bitter and sour with a bit of Sweettart candy, lemon, grapefruit and pine. The finish was long, dry, tart and bitter with lingering lemon. Medium body. Fairly subdued for an IPA. Ok.

12 oz bottle into shaker. Aroma is a little too subdued. There’s some faint piney hops, some floral notes, a little citrus and some caramel malt; I smell a hint of barleywine. Pours a hazy orange hue with a small head that recedes, leaving a collar of foam and some moderate lace. Taste is sweet and finishes long and completely bitter. I taste none of the citrus, pine, or floral notes I love about this style of beer. It tastes more like an Arrogant Bastard or something than a traditional IPA. Highly carbonated, oily, full body. Overall, it’s a good beer, but not as good as its reputation would suggest. Rerate: after warming up a bit longer the aroma gets more assertive. The caramel makes itself stand out more, and there’s some cinnamon raisin bread-like aromas that appear.

Sample at the "Portland? Psh More Like Beerland" tasting on 03/10/10. This brew is a hazy orange color with a thin and fluffy off-white head that dissipates to an outer ring eventually. Stringy lacing on the glass. Piney hops and citrus in the nose. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops profile that has piney and citrusy notes. There is a touch of malt present for balance too. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Solid IPA all around.

Nice copper coloured body with a nice-sized tan head that tops the beer nicely. Aroma of super strong hops, pungent malt and a good alcohol bite. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive hoppiness in the taste with a good malt backbone and a strong alcohol finish. Aftertaste super hoppy with a good nutty finish. Overall, a very nice IPA - strong and hoppy, complete with a very well-rounded finish. I sampled this beer on draught at Henry’s 12th St Tavern in Portland, Oregon on 09-September--2006.

Bottled. Hazy orange golden color, medium off-white head. Aroma of fruit, hop, some bread, orange zest, bit caramel. Not bitter, but more fruity, some caramel, orange. Very soft.

Courtesy of CigarCityBrew. Pours hazy brownish orange with off white head. The aroma is citrus orange and tart grapefruit hops mixing with sweet maltiness, some lightly roasted malts and faint earthiness too. The aroma is kind of on the light side. The taste is very much like the aroma with grapefruit hops, some wet to vegetable-ness to grassy hop bitterness. Interesting. There’s a nice under current of malty sweetness and faint roastiness. It doesn’t really shine with flavor and aroma the way I have come accustom to IPA being.
