“There’s a lot going on in this beer with two yeast strains, copious amounts of wheat malt, and a big focus on ‘C’ hops to deliver a citrus explosion,” explains Green Flash Brewmaster, Chuck Silva. “In fact we lined up more than a dozen hop varieties in the brewery to select three hops with the biggest citrus character to dry hop the beer.
“This golden beer pours with beautiful, frothy white beer foam that lasts due to bottle conditioning. Gently rousing the yeast that settles in the bottle will result in a fuller texture and a more cloudy white appearance. The citrus aromas that jump from the glass are largely tangerine up front with other types of citrus notes that mingle with the Belgian yeast esters. Hop flavors of bitter orange zest dominate the brew and linger to the finish with a nice play of American and Belgian yeast combo.”
A beer with so many components can be held together with a “Linchpin”. The official “Linchpin” of this beer is the skillful collaboration between the two breweries to create a unique hop-forward brew. Linchpins are symbolic: two simple shapes that combine to strengthen a bond amongst many different pieces.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap ($8): Pours a light orange color with a white head. Aroma is very fruity and citrusy with some malt backbone. Taste is hoppy, but very minimally bitter. The hops mostly provide a nice citrus punch to the beer without amping up the bitterness. The body is really pleasant. Balance is well pulled off. I am like this beer.

Bomber. Pours a hazy yellow gold with large frothy white head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is floral hop and citrus. Thin mouthfeel with a strong yeast and citrus with spicy finish. Easy to drink a good IPA from Green Flash.

Pours pale hazy gold into a Sam glass. White micro head top-hats before receding leaving gobs of foam. Sweet yeast and grapefruit aromas. Soft with sweet caramel upfront turning to biscuity yeast before the lasting grapefruit and resin finish.

Light golden color. Citrusy hoppy nose with underlying wit character or coriander. The mouth is slightly sweet, but very balanced, moderate amout of hops, citrus notes are very pronounced. Rounded bitter finish. Really well made. Excellent.

Bomber from BevMo Salinas. Nose is loaded with citrus and a slight hint of banana and cloves. Not a white IPA but a hazy florescent yellow with a big lightly lacing pale yellow head. Flavor is bitter with lemony and fruity hints. Finishes with a nice bitter note.

Purchased at Charleston Beer Exchange in Charleston, SC; enjoyed from my hotel room on the last night of my honeymoon in Myrtle Beach, SC. Appearance is a cloudy light gold with a very rich and foamy white head that laces to the glass. Aroma is very citrusy but also big grapefruit notes, light pepper/spice as well. Taste is good, grapefruit really shines as well as lemon notes making it kind of tart, followed by orange citrus and a touch of pepper. The tartness is a bit too much for me with this one though. Not a huge fan of this one.

Strong coriander and orange peel nose, subtle hints of rosehip. Hazy pale amber, thick head, good lacing. Less coriander on the palate, lemon zest is dominant. Bitter grass appears at midpalate Interesting take on the so-called white IPA. I expected more of a citrus style hop to go with the normal citrus notes of a wit. In this beer, the hop regime is more of grassy, floral character. Interesting and quite enjoyable.
