Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a full pure, slightly sweet taste and long soft bittery aftertaste. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (including rolled oats), two types of Belgian hops, brewing water and yeast. This is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening cosy.

Bottle: Deep chestnit-amber coloured, bigger stable off-white head; moderate to solid sweet-spicy nose: caramel, (dried) fruits and x-mas spices like cinnamon plus traces of chocolate; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; increasing bitterness towards the caramelly and vinous-fruity finish. Nice, very nice.....

23/03/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bel colore tonaca di frate con riflessi rosso porpora, schiuma cremosa bianca lievemente sporca. Aroma intenso, caldo, dolce, fruttato, caramellato e speziatissimo. In bocca si presenta dolce, caramellata, con una buona struttura adeguata alla gradazione alcolica importante. Nel finale lievissime note amare. Strepitosa, da applausi!

Warning! Early amateur rating! A dark winter beer. Dark malts with pleasant fruit. Crisp and easy drinking for it’s abv.

A 2008 bottle. Hazy deep amber beer, bubbly cream colour head. Palate is light, good fine carbonation. Smooth malts, little caramel. Nice tangy fruits, dried fruits and a touch of cherry. Whisper of spices. More complex mature fruits on the finish. Aged nicely!

bottle from my parents - thanks! Deep brown, almost black colour, large beige head. Fruity nose with hints of plums and raisins. Medium-bodied, malty base with a touch of alcohol and a dry palate, hints of plums, raisins, dates and caramel, a touch of espresso coffee and single malt whisky.

Pour is a murky brown with almost no head. Aroma is dark fruit, molasses and some allspice. Flavor is again some dark fruit with molasses and candi sugar. This is a very sweet but flavorfull beer. Leaves a nice earthyness on the tounge after the swallow. It Christmas in July.

Decent dark winter ale. Slight licorice notes. Light and airy for the style. A little sweet finish. Rated 4/12/10

Bottle in a hotel room in Bruges. Black, thin beige head. Choccy nose, bit of boozyness on aroma. Liquorice, I really don’t like liquorice. Boozy too. Pretty much not in my palate. All wrong for me, but nothing wrong with it.

Dark maroon color with a small tan head that quickly disappears. Scant lacing. Aroma has bitter chocolate, raisins, vanilla and roasted malt. Flavor begins with milk chocolate and progresses to dark fruits and spice. Complex and interesting. Good body. Definitely a top Christmas beer.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a quickly dissipating light brown head. Aroma is quite one note with sweet malts, particularly caramel notes. Flavor is sweet with caramel and cereal notes with and undertone of liquor and just a touch of hops. Beer is particularly rich and smooth.
