Mikkeller Vik. Three Floyds tap takeover. Bottle share with Ronnie (Rlgk), Jan (Fonefan), Rene (Benzai) and the Swedish drinking team (Anders37, Lars, Lenhard and Bjorn). Holy....10.30am Dark Lord Batman! Opaque black - brown beer, small pale tan head. Amazing Port Wine fruity nose. Palate is smooth with fine carbonation. Smooth and fairly light dark malts, mild chocolate and malt cream. Lovely Port Wine liqueur and red berry fruits. Touches of wood and spice. Comes together so very well in to a smooth finish. No heat and stupidly drinkable. Sweet but not as many Dark Lords. Always thought this would be a belter and was not disappointed. Superb.

Pours near black with a ring beige head. Aroma shows the port upfront with raisins, prunes, caramel and chocolate. Flavour is heavy sweet with the normal dark lord characters. Thick an sticky sweet mouthfeel. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle at the Three Floyd’s tap takeover @ Milkeller Viktoriagade. Poured a dark mahogany with a thin whispy tan head. The aroma is rich malt, molasses, chocolate fudge, liqourice. The flavour is strong sweet with a sweet oaky port alcoholic chocolate palate and a rich oily mouthfeel. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

65 cl bottle vintage 2013 @ Mikkeller Bar. Bottle 262/726.

Aroma has sweet porto tones, ripe fruits, some oak and imperial stout elements in the background - some roastiness can be detected. Flavour has lots of porto, mellow oak tones and some alcohol. Sweet cocoa and dark chocolates typical to DL are in the background also on the flavour side. A porto with no sharp alcohol and stronger body with smoothness added, but still not overwhelmingly sweet. In other words: a porto with its typical problems fixed! Starts to get more IS tones at the end of the glass: rye pudding occurs.

Clear purple brown beer, no head. Aroma: spicy, alcohol, wood, port notes are clearly present, lots of sweetness and caramel. MF: little carbon, full body, bit syrupy texture. Taste: sweet start, sugary, port, some forest fruit candy, chocolate, caramel, alcohol is noticeable. Aftertaste: sugary, caramel, mead / honey, sourish touch, alcohol burning in the throat, bit woody, tannins, little bitter, dark chocolate, pretty darn complex beer!

rating no 7 , on a BA dark lord? as a belgian boy who just turned 21 last month ? aauwtch, that has GOT to hgurt, america! :p payback time for all the beers like spuyten , we’ll never be able to see ? :p made very possible by the one and only bobochamp/ ignace from hopduvel ghent ! thnx dude ! pours dark brown, close to black. no foam, smell is somewhat boozy, sweet. taste is pretty weird. is this the right time to commit i’ve never drank port? lol very sweet, sugary, but not as pure overkill-sugary as the regular dark lord. bit boozy, slightly apple-ish notes. 1 of the better DL variants
