A Blend of caramel, malt and dark fruit on the nose. This is a smooth and rich Strong Belgian Ale, featuring caramel, a hint of banana, figs, and malt in the taste profile. The balance reflects the skill of the brewers and the medium body and fine effervescence add to the quality and blending of this beer.

75 CL corked bottle from my cellar. Pours dark reddish brown, slight fizz that disappears quickly. Smell is pretty light. Most of the dubbel style note has faded out, but it hasn't turned. Taste has similarly faded, or maybe I'm too used to the thick malty American versions of Dubbel styles. Very wine-y overtures, with a bit of malt sweetness. Mouthfeel is a bit light, but wine character keeps it worthwhile.

Old rating - Just realised that the Rouge & Brune are the same as stated here (& confirmed on Chimay web site) as I've had them several times. Outstanding Dubbel.
