Montmorency vs. Balaton is our barrel-aged wild ale re-fermented with Montmorency and Balaton cherries. These distinct cherry varieties that are sourced from our friends at King Orchards in Michigan lend their own unique flavor to the final beer. We create a blend of mature barrel-aged beer, add the cherries at a very high ratio (5lb. per gallon), then let the fruit re-ferment to total dryness. To us, we feel "MvB" has a perfect blend of bursting pie cherry flavor and aroma, dry drinkability, and elegant tartness.

[Copenhagen 2017] BIG THANKS! 500 ml. bottle split by 4 @ Himmeriget. 2016 Vintage. Batch 3. Bright red cherry syrup appearance, almost no head. Nose is huge puckering kriek, reminds me even a bit of Cantillon Kriek but less thick, low dirty ditch water funk, old lemon, huge cherry. Pits almost a touch watery, dirty lemon, ditch water but overall, fruit is amazing, puckering funky, acidic, cherry pits, acidic funk,… Might have been a bit better fresher with even bigger fruit but this is pretty awesome with this huge sour puckering funk. Really good stuff.

Draft, 4 oz. Copenhagen Beer Celebration, Boston, MA. 23 September, 17. Appearance shows hazy red color with fizzy head. Aroma is bold cherries, yogurt, oak, subtle acid. Taste is mild cherry jam character followed but yogurt and lasting tartness in the finish. Acid doesn’t overwhelm. I like it and for a sour ale, very approachable.
