Our brewing history begins with this beer. And the history of strong beer in Bavaria – it was the Paulaner monks who invented this bottom-fermenting double bock. We have been brewing the Salvator for over 375 years – always according to the original recipe, which has been continuously refined over the years. The head is the colour of caramel and the beer is chestnut brown, combined with a seductive flavour of chocolate to give a pleasing intensity on the palate. Along with this comes the finest Munich malt, rounded off by a light note of hops in the background. Often imitated but never duplicated: The father of all double bock beers, whose names always end in “-ator”!

Dark orange/red colored beer with low, off-white foam. Fruity aroma, with hints of gasoline. Melanoidins are also present. Quite sweet with really low bitterness. Medium to full body.

Well this is just splendid. Rich and malty with lots of caramel and a dash of fruit so while it's a bit lively it's just got a lovely smooth taste to it and a nice sweet finish. Great stuff.

Bottle at home. Pours dark amber to brown. Small white head. Smell and taste are caramelly, the traditional maltyness of a dippelbock. It'd pretty thin for the style though, and not that intensely flavored. The specific bottle I had, had mild oxidation on top, but I won't take that into count for the actual beer itself ( this was perhaps a tad older bottle?). Not bad, but certainly not great between the best of the style.

Creamy & fluffy just white head left a good cover on a reddish brown still body. Minimal aroma of malt, caramel & spice. Medium to full bodied sticky, smooth & creamy on the palate with heavy cloying finish. Heavy malt, brown sugar, dark berries, citrus hints & a bitter spicy finish

500ml can. Pours hazy amber with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma is caramel, toasted malt, dried fruit. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, nuts and a touch of spicy hops. Finish is sweet and slightly alcoholic. Very decent.

Bottle. Malty aroma, matured fruit, sirupy notes, light caramel. Tastes the same as aroma, light sweet, light to medium bitter. Full body, malty bitter sweet finish. Good.
