Collaboration with The Hanging Bat, this is ridiculously drinkable at it's ABV. A sticky, sweet beer similar to a barleywine but with the spiciness of rye to boot. Caramel, candied fruit and leathery notes add to the complexity of this beer.

Almost no head left, reddish dark amber beer. Sweet, even syrupy-caramelly smelling, as caramel-covered oranges, C-hops under a truckload of caramel malts. Sweetish-bitterish; again (preserved) oranges, caramel, toffee. Fiery MF, alcoholwarmth, very slick to viscous, well-bodied. Too much sugary sweetness.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham, consumed at home Friday 10th July 2015 Dark red heading towards mid brown with a beige head. Wow this is a very big and punchy Barley Wine. Very fruity in the mouth with bitter orange the key flavour here but there is also toffee and some dark dried sticky fruits and then you return to the orange which is now more marmalade like. Some heat from the alcohol but not too much of a burn. A little spicy on the nose, hops throughout. It’s a good beer, wish I had of got another to stick away as I reckon this would age well. A dark, reddish brown beer, a head is small and blond. Aroma is strongly malty, caramel and fruits, some yeast. Taste has richness of malts, some rye, the bitterness is herbal and drying. Medium+ bodied. Too harsh and not so interesting

33 cl bottle @ olio. Batch #0123: bottled 10/2014, BBE 10/2017
Aroma has surprisingly fresh fruits with some resiny tones. Also fruit candy. Flavour has harsh malt, ripe fruits, vanilla and some buttery tones. This one started good but the flavour – and especially the finish is rather harsh and somewhat rancid.

330ml bottle
Pours reddish with a tiny head. Aroma of berries, malts, hints of chewy caramel, rye and syrup. Taste is sweet, caramely and chewy with hints of berries, toffee, rye and candy. Finish is candy-like, sweet and chewy with notes of toffee, some malts, hints of rye and berries. Quite strange, but somehow I like this.

Bottle from Bon Vivant companion. Appearance -toffee orange with a generous head. Nose - initial burst of Cointreau. Marmalade and wood follow it in. Taste - wood, booze, toffee. Solvent and tangy boozy oranges on the finish. Palate - medium to full bodied with a huge tangy middle section and a long tangy finish. Overall - a really deep and complex beer. A bit dry and boozy at this stage butmmay improve even further in the bottle.
