Bottle shared. Cloudy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roast, coffee, dark chocolate, caramel and overripe dark fruits. Flavour is above moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

(Bottle, Antwaerps Bierhuyske, Antwerpen, 15 Oct 2015) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with chocolate, liquorice and dark fruit. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and a fairly dry finish with a balanced roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced stout. Nice one.

Stout from the Pakhuis brewery in Antwerp, with stable, creamy, light tan head and very dark bronze colour with light sparkling, blackish but not quite. Aroma of sweet cherries, a lot of artificial iron, cold black coffee, fondant chocolate, toasted bread, caramel, candied dates, raisins and a hint of baked banana. Sweetish, almost candyish onset but drying quickly, with a deep, basic sourishness for balance; soft carbo, smooth mouthfeel, caramelly with a port wine accent, somewhat metallic in the end, bit powdery, only lightly roasted, bittersweet finish with noble floral hop bitterishness; light body for the style, accessible but clearly lacking boldness, thickness and braveness to truly belong to this style. Enjoyable alright if your expectations are not too high, I guess...

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Tom L. Dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, malt, a hint of chocolate, and an alcoholic touch. Sweet flavor with caramel, dark fruits, toast, a licorice note, and a drier and slightly roasty finish. Medium-bodied.
