Bottle from Slijterij Wijnhandel Scholars, Bergen, Nord Holland, Netherlands, consumed at Frank (camper), Camping Strandbad, Edam, Thursday 29th September 2016 Pitch black with a slim tan rim, quite thick in the mouth. Cocoa on the nose but a touch of beefy oxo in the mouth, it’s certainly a big bolshy beer, there is a streaky fruity edge, bit like grapes or red wine. Very good. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

On tap at NHBF’16. Black colour, beige-brown head. Aroma is sweet, liquorice, some wine, molasses, roasted malts. Flavour is also quite sweet, sticky, light metallic from the sugar, wood, hint of wine, molasses, roasted malts, bittersweet finish. Medium to full bodied. Decent stuff.

Sampled from tap at NHB 2016 as ’De Moersleutel Je Moer Walnut Wine BA’. Hazy, dark brown to black with a thin, beige head. Sweetish, roasty and slightly fruity aroma of caramel, dark chocolate, coffee and some red wine. Sweetish-malty, roasty and slightly fruity taste of caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, some red wine and oak, followed by a medium long, slightly roasty-bitter, a little vinous finish. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice!
