Bottle - amber pour white head. Sweet malty aroma and taste, caramel, toffeish, yeasty, some herbal and floral notes

33 cl bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity andlight toasted malty. Sweet. Toasted malty and lingering light fruity. Medium sweet finish.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy golden amber with a thin white head. Aromas of caramel, light spice. Taste is more of the same. Nothing special.

Bottle at craig’s. Pours hazy orange, nose is dull toffee, floral, taste is dry, sweet, light citrus and spice.

Commissioned Belgian amber ale with tightly lacing, moussy, dense, lightly yellowish white head and lightly hazy, pinkish amber colour which turns a murky orange brown after adding the deposit. Very ’Belgian’ aroma: very soapy, canned peaches, flowers, fruit yoghurt, red apple, grass, baker’s yeast, some fresh mandarin, cheese spread, pear, biscuit. Refreshing fruity onset, apricot, pineapple and orange, minerally carbonation, slight sourish accent, smooth middle phase of caramelly and nutty malts, bit toasted, with gradually increasing, leafy and floral hop bitterness, though it remains, in all, fairly mild for a Senne beer; finish has lingering yeastiness (a bit spicy) and a persisting caramelly malt sweetishness as well. Quite well balanced and enjoyable, restrainedly sweet with just sufficient bitterness to balance it, though admittedly I had better from this brewery and the soapiness of the aroma bothered me slightly. Still, De la Senne never let me down ever since I met the brewers in person when they had just started. Cheers Yvan!

Bottle. Golden fuzzy beer, big foamy head. Aroma of grainy malt, fruity yeast and orange. Creamy taste of yeast, buttery caramel and some grassy bitters. Nice belgian ale.

Huge yellow head, rather dense with shards of lace over clear copper-amber beer. End of bottle serious yeast. Parsley, caramel, caramalt, rainwater. Sweetish caramel, little or no hops (guys?). Bit perfumey, rosewater. Warming up, other grains - making it seem oxydized. Light body, grist-like slickness. Allons messieurs! You can do better! A bolleke is already a way better Spéciale Belge.

Bottle bought @ Etre. Pours very hazy reddish brownish orange with a frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is rustic, slightly malty, slightly estery and tiny phenolic with biscuits, dark bread, grapefruit juice, red apples, sour pears, moist wood, hay, dry soil, minerals, orange zest and lemon zest. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, slightly malty, slightly herbal, slightly estery and slightly phenolic with biscuits, caramel, red apples, unripe pears, sour cherries, moist hay, moist soil, black pepper corns, orange zest and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is soft, round, slightly dry, slightly astringent and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with caramel, red apples, unripe pears, moist hay, moist soil, black pepper corns, sheet metal, orange zest and lemon zest. The amber ale version of a great De La Senne beer. Still quite good though...
