Tap. Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Hazy amber. Film of white head. Wood polish. Acetone. Pear drops. Fresh pear. Banana. White chocolate. Cough medicine. Taste is sticky sweet, and not a lot else. Soft, chewy, boozy palate. Finishes sweet, boozy, and has a light dry close. A lot like a barley wine.

Tap at Siren Halloween bash, 1st November 14. Pours a straw brown, the aroma is vanilla, coffee and sweets. The taste is sweet, with some roasty notes, vanilla come through. Drinks below the ABV. Lovely, but maybe I should not have had a full glass of this, the way I feel today!

Keg at Siren Halloween Beer Festival, Saturday 1st November 2014 in company of Colin. Pours light amber with slim white head. the chocolate shows well, really well but to say it is the only show in town with this beer would be wrong because it is tempered with a tart edge. Soft in mouth, juicy fruits combine with not so juicy fruits, for example I get overipe banana, also a seam of vanilla in this but the chocolate is the one constant. It’s sweet perhaps a little too sweet at times and the strength is apparent. However this is a blinder, an absolute corker. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

Keg at Craft Beer Co, Brighton. It pours clear deep golden-amber with a decent white head. The nose is rich, sweet, white chocolate, milkybar, vanilla, earth, oily, pear and toffee apple. The taste is sweet, sticky, vanilla, white chocolate, honeyed pear, apple, booze, varnish, earth and coffee with a slick, warming finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Almost tripel-esque. Interesting, but a bit sweet and boozy for my liking.
