Naam
That beer is Super DuPA! De naam verwijst naar de uitdrukking super duper, oftewel uitmuntend! Bovendien staat DuPA voor Dutch Pale Ale. Jopen brengt oude bierstijlen tot leven met nieuwe en innovatieve recepten. Dit bier is daar een mooi voorbeeld van. We hebben meerdere brouwgranen gebruikt, net als de historische Haarlemse brouwerijen 700 jaar geleden. Een Dutch Pale Ale is een Pale Ale met meer dan alleen gerstemout en een hoger alcoholpercentage dan de oude Engelse Pale Ales. Ten slotte hebben we Amerikaanse hop toegevoegd waardoor dit bier het profiel heeft van een moderne IPA.

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso viene attratto dal luppolo. La finezza olfattiva è elevata e la maniera in cui permane è apprezzabile. Il cappello di schiuma ha una buona tenuta e persistenza. Le bollicine sono grandi. La parte liquida è di consistenza limpida. Bollicine medio-fini costituiscono la forma del perlage. Il colore è giallo dorato carico tendente arancio. Il corpo è strutturato. L'amaro è deciso.La forza gustativa è elevata e la durata è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano luppolate. Il finale è amarognolo. Il retrogusto è intenso. In bocca l'aroma è quello di miele, crosta di pane, frutta secca, luppolo, resina, pino, pompelmo e arancia amara.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is fruity hops with citrus, melon, grass, malt, some tropical notes, and a hint of pine. Flavour is light sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Bit of a classic IPA, nice.

Tap @ Cardinal. Slightly unclear golden body under a small white head. Aroma has soft malt and fruity hops. Taste is smooth, pale malt, peaches and citric fruit in general. Moderate bitterness. Medium body with same smooth aftertaste. Nice classic pale ale with high drinkability and fine balance. Very nice indeed.

Vi er atter samlet i trygge omgivelser, og seremonimester Melberg har sørget for at denne kvelden er i sin helhet viet fatøl. Etter en lovende innledning med Monkey Brew Lucy er vi nå klar for denne: klar gylden med fint skum som varer. Deilig fruktighet med mild bitterhet. Appelsin/lime-marmelade tilsatt gul melon. Saftig avslutning og ren, fin munnfølelse med mer enn et hint av mersmak.

On tap at Mandag i Annen, Cardinal, Stavanger. Pale golden colour, white head. Moderately citric aroma and flavour, "clean" and dry, moderate bitterness.

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, some elderflower. Flavour is burnt candy sugar, fruits, some toffee and mild yeasty tones.

Bottle. Just minimally cloudy pale orange/gold sporting a lovely white head. Aroma of tropical and citrus fruits (mostly pineapple and papaya) with a little bit of resin and pine. Taste of lemons, grapefruits, pineapple, papaya, orange marmelade, minerals and caramel. Moderate bitterness. Low carbonation. Thin mouthfeel. Ok. Easy drinking but not exactly supa dupa per se.

Yet another bottle picked up from Sulzberger Bierhaus, Pffafenhofen an der Ilm and consumed at home Sunday 1st January 2023 cooking a Dal Makhani and a Lamb Raan to have with accompaniments such as Jaipur Slaw. Listening to Nova Twins - Supernova. Pours warm gold with a white head. A touch tropical on the nose, fruity in the mouth, again mostly tropical with a little melon and papaya. A very good pale ale.
