Klusdag Emmeloord.

Licht troebel geelgoud, goed wit schuim. Licht zoet in de smaak, klein bittertje. Lekker.

Hoparoma. Sweet taste with raisin, some hopbitterness and licorice. Hopbitter aftertaste with a hint of metal. At a later tasting this beer was sweet, thin and sticky.

At Taverne De Grenssteen, Vaals. Shared with Anke.
Pours hazy brown/amber with a lasting, thick frothy, tan head that leaves lacing. The aroma contains malt, caramel, nuts, spices, some yeast. It tastes medium caramel-like sweet and light spicy bitter; bit yeasty and not too dry in the finish. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Straightforward, sweetish, yet more enjoyable than its blond brother.

On tap @ Gasthof Euverum, a stone’s throw distance from the Gulpener brewery, so should be really fresh. Deep ruby redbrown pour. Nice dense off white to beige head with good lacing. Aroma’s of dark malt, caramel, light chocolate and red fruit. Retronasal it’s sweetish, red fruit, caramel. Flavor is moderate sweet, caramel malts with hints of bitterness and roast. Medium bodied. Light roasty bitterness in the finish. Clean and technically ok, but quite dull.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 14 Sep 2016) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, chocolate and roasted nuts. Malty taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, prunes, raisins and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced, but hardly exciting. Quite enjoyable.
