Billy's Best is a smooth bitter that is easy drinking but with the strength of a Best Bitter. So be careful!

Billy was a well know 'character' locally and took part in many ploughing competitions. This is Billy on his tractor in a ploughing match. This beer is brewed to celebrate hard work and the rewards of the harvest.

Rocky white head on a murky brown coloured body. Malt, toffee & caramel aroma. Medium bodied, soft with a sticky back. Malt, caramel, toffee, stone fruit & berry tastes with a nicely hopped bitter finish & peppery aft. Great balance - Nice one.

Handpull cask at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Light to mid-broen with a slightly reddish hue and an off-white head. Clear. Cloying aroma of toffee and oak. Sweet taste - far too sweet for this type of bitter. Some toffee and berry. Slight body, soft carbonation. This one doesn't work quite so well for me.

Cask at Old Bell, Derby. Pours the classic “bitter brown” with a small white head. Aroma is generally malty. In the mouth there is both malts and fruit (so Maltloaf, I guess). Some toffee and raspberries too. Finish is mainly bitter, but with some sweetness too. Not at all bad.

Cask pint, hand-pulled in The Crown Joules, Codsall on 29th Feb 2020. Copper coloured beer, smooth off-white foaming head. Malty brew with a smooth feel to it, decent.

Cask, guest ale at The Albion Brewery Bar (Phipps) in Northampton, half-pint, shard with Finn. Bubbls on the surface, clingy lacing, dark orange coloured body, next to clear. Malt-fruity nose, dried fruits and bread. Decent mixed taste character of caramel and dried fruits. Drying, bittersweet finish. Pretty alright. (12.02.2019)

Delt med Rune. Mørk gyldenbrun. 0 skum. Aroma av tørket frukt. Beskjeden. Smaken som aromaen. Beskjeden - balansert - og god! Tørr bitter avslutning.

Cask at Great British Food Festival 2014, Harewood House. Copper amber colour, off-white foam head and malty, nutty aroma. Taste is malt, toffee, caramel with orangey hop, nutty, earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft to medium, dry nutty bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask handpull at KIT Sheffield. LIGHTISH brown colour. Lasting beige head. Now that is a tasty brown malty bitter. Not enough of these around these days. Not stupidly tight sparklers neither. Some leafy bettle subtle hop sting finish. Decent.bu

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 6/12/07. Mahogany with a decent white head. Aroma of caramel and spicy hops. Flavour was biscuity before a long, dry finish. Good.
