This beer has the qualities of a well balanced English ruby bitter. Aged with star anise, ginger and raspberry. Similar to ageing in wood, the additions were infused over time. Any drinker would be hard pressed to define the individual flavours but their effect on body and flavour is immense. Deep ruby in colour with spice and fruit. An aroma of vanilla and toffee crystal malt is followed by sweetish malt and gentle fruit and spice. A well balanced beer in the English tradition.

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. An attractive golden chestnut colour with a trace of beige head; fruity aroma, but not noticeably raspberry; sweet malty raspberry taste with some light spice; and a pleasant dry fruity finish with some warming spice. A very drinkable winter ale.
