Our traditional long fermented, Still farmhouse cider, rich amber in colour and slightly cloudy with a rich, ripe apple scent. Just as it should be!! Tasting only of sweet, bitter apples, giving way to a crisp, sharp & satisfying finish.

Bottle from Croots Farm Shop, Duffield, Derbyshire. New producer for me. Burnished gold colour, a bit too fizzy but reasonably full bodied. On the sweet side of medium. Decent apple juice flavour, a little leather and sweat. Got a bit boring by the end, but maybe I shouldn't be expecting too much depth from a 4.5% cider. Quite drinkable overall, although I think the Mrs liked it better than me.

Bottle from B&M Bargains, Halifax. Dark golden cider. Has a good blast of apple, but soon after a bittered finish that lingers somewhat. Fair aroma.

500ml bottle from Tesco, Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Golden colour, no head and barnyard aroma with musty apple, wood, leather, vinegar. Taste is sourish, fruity apple, oaky, bittersweet with straw, funk, leathery barnyard notes and earthy dry tannins. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, dry tangy fruity tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

500ml bottle from B&M, Shrewsbury. Pours a deep clear amber, aroma of sour farmhouse funk. Natural body, lacking carbonation, taste is largely sour with a soft acidity, fleshy tannins and good fruit content. Very much a ’real’ cider, which wasn’t what I expected stocked alongside the rekorderligs and Smirnoff fruit ciders of B&M. Decent.
